The Awakening of a Nightmare
Kookie’s POV
I was laying completely wrapped in the plush comfort of our grand mattress, my arms still protectively holding the warm, golden frame of my beautiful TaeTae. The peaceful aftermath of our intense, sweat-drenched battle in bed had completely knocked our bodies out into a deep, heavy slumber last night. But suddenly, a frantic, breathless voice began cutting through my peaceful darkness, hands gently shaking my shoulders.
"Kookie, wake up! Please, wake up right now!"
"Your biological mother is officially here inside the estate, Kookie! You need to wake up!"
My heavy eyelids fluttered open, my groggy mind slowly realizing that it was my precious TaeTae who was desperately trying to pull me out of my sleep. I hadn't even calculated that the two of us had completely drifted off into a dead sleep after executing such a strenuous, high-heat athletic activity until the early hours of the morning.
"Hey, Kookie... your mother has already arrived!" TaeTae whispered frantically, his lenient eyes filled with a sudden layer of anxiety. "Would you please stand up right this second and wear something over your body first? Please, hurry up!"
Still entirely dazed and disoriented, I immediately scrambled out of the rumpled sheets, sliding into a pair of plain cotton boxer shorts. Without wasting a single heartbeat to properly style my hair or select a high-end outfit, I simply grabbed a random piece of clothing from the rack and rushed straight downstairs to face the formidable matriarch of the Jeon dynasty.
The moment my bare feet touched the marble flooring of the grand living room, my gaze locked onto her figure. My mother was sitting with absolute, unyielding posture upon her favorite velvet couch positioned directly beside the panoramic window. She was staring coldly outside, watching the vast fields of purple lavenders dancing gracefully in the crisp morning breeze of the wind.
"Hey... Mom," I panted out slightly, walking into her line of sight. "You absolutely didn't inform my circle that your flight from Paris would touch down so incredibly early in the morning?"
My mother’s sharp, calculating eyes slowly snapped away from the window, locking onto my messy appearance with a look of supreme disapproval. "Gosh! Jeon Kook, what on earth time do you think it is right now? It is already almost 8 o'clock in the morning, and what in the world are you currently wearing?!" she scolded, her meticulous voice cutting through the quiet room like ice. "Can you please go put on something decent and presentable? What if Lisa and her prominent father were to suddenly step through those grand doors right now and witness your corporate asset looking like a total mess? What on earth would their high-society family think of your upbringing, huh?!"
I froze to the spot, my eyebrows narrowing in total, suffocating confusion. "Wait... Mom? How on earth do you even know Lisa and her father? And what did your mouth just say? They are actually coming over to this estate today?"
"Yes, of course they are," my mother replied smoothly, smoothing down her designer Parisian dress. "Her father is a very powerful, influential corporate friend to my circle. Although I haven't possessed the absolute privilege of seeing his daughter Lisa face-to-face yet, I do firmly believe she is an exceptionally beautiful, well-bred girl. And very soon, she will officially become my daughter-in-law."
