TW; MULTIPLE SXICIDES, MULTIPLE MURDERS, MAJOR CHARACTER DEATH, GORE, ANGST, YOU'RE GOING TO HATE ME-

- THIRD PERSON POV -

It had been four long months, but they were out of the tunnel and in a new home. The police were still looking for them, but after three years they had simply been deemed 'missing' and anyone with information was requested to come forward. But no one had any information except for the people from the underground, but they were all in the same situation.

It was a normal day, five years later from last chapter. Mitsuko was twelve. Exactly that, actually, since today was her birthday.
She hopped out of her bed in excitement and joy, pushing the black, white, and purple polka-dotted bedsheet back up so that there was no mess. The sound of a vaccume was the first thing she heard, and it seemed to come from right outside her door.

Mitsuko opened the door, and Shuichi was there cleaning as if it were a normal day (Because it was a normal day!). "Morning dad!" Shuichi beamed, turning off the vaccume and running to hug Mitsuko. "Heeey! Good morning, birthday girl!" He pulled away, grabbing her shoulders and bending a bit to be at eye-level with her. "How's it feel to be twelve?"
"Exactly the same as it felt to be eleven plus one."
Shuichi rolled his eyes,"You get your sarcasm from your papa, don't you?"

Mitsuko offered no answer, instead squirming out of Shuichi's grip and running to the kitchen where Kokichi was making pancakes.
"Papaaa!" Kokichi turned his head. "Mitsuuu! Happy birthday sweetie!"
The purple-haired girl (Though it wasn't her natural color like Kokichi's was, she had her hair dyed to that she could look more like she's part of the family and not just their adopted daughter. Her original hair color is blonde, and eye color is blue.) peeked over at what Kokichi was making.

"Heeey! No peeking!"
"C'mooon! I wanna know if you're making my favorite?"
"Hmmm, what's your favorite again? I forgot..!"
"Paapaaaaaaaaa!"
"Kidding, kidding!" Kokichi laughed,"Yes, of course! Chocolate chip pancakes with blueberries on top! How could I forget? You only ask for it every day."

Mitsuko rolled her eyes, sitting at the table as she put her long hair into a low-ponytail. "Oh please, you love me."
"That, I do!"

Shuichi seemed to have finished vaccuming, as the background noise of the vacume had stopped and he began making his way to the kitchen. He saw Kokichi and smiled, walking up and giving him a kiss. "Morning, Kokichi.." Said man giggled, kissing Shuichi back for only a moment before pulling away. "Morning, love!" Meanwhile, Mitsuko made a fake barfing noise,"Ewww! Gross!"

The blunette rolled his eyes and sat down at the table with Mitsuko,"You're acting like you haven't seen us do the same thing hundreds and thousands of times."

"Still! It's gross, bleh."

As Mitsuko spoke, Kokichi brought over Shuichi some coffee.
"Thank you."
Then, he brought over pancakes, chocolate chips mixed inside, covered in butter, bluberries on top, and smothered in maple syrup.
Exactly how Mitsuko liked it!

"Thank you, papa!" Mitsuko grinned and Kokichi messed with her hair.

Mitsuko glanced down at her wrist for a moment. 97%. He and her fathers had the same percentage show up. She'd rarely ever seen a number different than that, other than when her papa's friends visited. But even then, the numbers were never lower that 60. She didn't quite understand the concept of soulmates in the way her fathers did. All she knew was that one day she'll meet someone and her wrist will say 100%, and then she and that person would spend the rest of their lives together. Just like her fathers. She didn't understand the concept of soulmate abandonment or death, since every time she met people who were soulmates they always seemed so happy and in love!
