Chapter 38

Amara's Pov

5 Years Later

"Ari! We are late for dinner!" I yell out to the monster on the stairs.

"Mummy I don't want to go!" She crosses her arms in anger and I nearly chuckle on how cute she looked.

"Okay then." I shrug and a smile breaks out on her face. "But if we don't go then Mummy is never making pancakes again."

That sets her straight as she runs down the stairs in a hurry and puts her shoes on quicker than I have ever seen.

"I'm ready!" She beams at me and I raise an eyebrow.

"What happened to not going?"

"Pancakes were on the line." She says innocently.

"Okay let's go now! Aunt Pandi and Hazel are waiting for us." I take her small hand into mine and she starts pulling towards the car.

"Is Hunter going to be there?" Ari asks and I smile.

"Hunter and Lila are going to be there." She starts pulling me harder and I shake my head. For a 4-year-old she has a lot of strength.

Let's back up a few years so I can catch you up on my life. Nearly 5 years ago I had my beautiful angel, Vinara Winter. Yeah I know I named her after Vincent but we all call her Ari. 4 Years ago I was still in love with him.

Now I loathe him.

He was and is a disgusting piece of shit that couldn't handle knowing that another man had forced himself on me. It was never my fault. I am a survivor. I admit I have been keeping tabs on him now and then but that's because he is Ari's dad and I don't want him finding out.

My family and friends helped me through my pregnancy and I am so grateful towards them. I don't I could have gotten through it alone. Not with the heartbreak and pain, I was going through.

A year after Ari was born, Pandi and Hazel adopted Hunter. He was 2 when they adopted him and honestly he is the cutest child I know. After Ari of course. He looks after and loves Ari as an older brother would. Even though he is very protective over Ari and Lila, he is the shyest little thing ever.

Next, we have Lila. Nadia and Liam had her 3 years ago and she is the complete opposite of Hunter. She always is packed with energy and is always entertaining us. Ari, Lila and Hunter are best friends and they're always looking out for each other. Ari is so protective over Lila it's honestly so cute.

Xander, on the other hand, has been single like me for the last 5 years. Sometimes I think it's because he doesn't want to divide his attention between Ari and another woman but then I think it's probably because he just doesn't want to settle down. He has been my rock for the last 5 years and I don't think I could thank him enough for everything he has done.

As Ari gets older she has these questions I just can't answer. Last week she asked me about her dad.

"Mama?"

"Yes, baby?" I look up from my laptop and see Ari looking at me with her big blue eyes she got from Vincent.

"Who is my daddy?" I feel myself go stiff at the question. I could dismiss it but I know she will only start pestering me about this later on.

"He is this man who I used to date. But then I found out that he wasn't a nice man so I left him." I keep my answer short and simple.

"Do you know where he is?" She looks at me with those eager eyes and I feel something inside.
