Amara's POV:
Friday
"Are you done, Amara?" Harold asks me and I hold my finger up.
"Yeah." The google docs save my last-minute edits. Just then our clients start filling in the conference room. Harold and I start greeting all of them as they find their designated seats.
The clock hits 2 pm and everyone settles down. Nearly every seat was filled out, just the potential client ones were empty. I dim the lights with the remote and all eyes were on me.
"As we all know 2020 has been a very successful year for all of our clients. Our outreach to the various target audience has resulted in a 63% increase in engagement. For example-." I'm cut off mid-sentence when the door opens. I couldn't see who it was with projector blinding me.
"Sorry, we're late." A man fills in the seat for the potential investor. I roll my eyes and continue with my speech.
"As I was saying, an example of this is..." For the next hour, I start giving facts and statistics from our outreach campaign.
Many of our clients had questions about the future and I reassured them we would continue to work with the same efficiency and we are planning to introduce a couple of new strategies.
"If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email. Other than that, I hope you stay with BSI." I smile and turn the lights back up.
Everyone politely claps and starts filing out of the room. I start collecting my files and laptop when the man who arrived late comes up to me.
"Amara right?" He holds his hand out and I shake it firmly.
"Yeah. And you are?" I raise an eyebrow.
"Matt Whitehall. Sales executive."
"Nice to meet. But next time, don't interrupt my meetings." Instead of feeling offended like I suspected he laughs.
"Duly noted. I have to say that presentation was excellent. My boss should be here any minute to discuss future business with BSI." He gives a friendly smile and I lead him out of the room.
"I'm surprised that your boss sent you. Usually in these kinds of meeting the CEOs or Board members attend." I shrug.
"He had an unexpected emergency."
"Sure." I roll my eyes. "It was probably a rich man's problem. Maybe his pool's water had gone dirty." I chuckle by Matt stays silent. "Come on that was funny!" I nudge him slightly but he doesn't even crack a smile.
"It wasn't. That's why he isn't laughing." I spin at the cold voice from behind me and I freeze. The man who left me 5 years ago stood with a cold expression on his face in front of me. "Vincent Knight, CEO of Knight Hotels and Restaurants." He holds his hand out for me to shake and my professionalism takes over.
"Amara Winter, Head of Social and Digital." Electricity coursed through me as I touch him and it felt like 5 years ago. "Should we head to my office to discuss this deal?"
"Yeah sure. Matt goes back to the office and cancels all of my meetings for today. This is going to take a while, right Miss Winter?" He looks at me with an unreadable expression.
"Right. Bye Matt." I walk into my office and Vincent follows behind.
"So here is the contract we give all our new clients. You are free to add and customise this into whatever fits your needs and then we will negotiate any terms we don't find fit." I hand over our standard contract.
"I have enough legal expertise to edit this contract now. If it's okay with you I can edit in here?" I wanted to shout and scream at him but the Knight business would be great for BSI.
