Amara's POV:

3 Years Later

"Amara!" I hear my co-worker Kelly call my name and I break out of my daydream. "Are you okay? I've been calling you for the last 5 minutes."

"Yeah sorry I'm not feeling too good." I rub my stomach gently to calm the nauseousness. "Think it was last night's Chinese."

"Did you get it from Chu's again?" Kelly props her arms on my desk and I chuckle lightly.

"Yeah..."

"As you know their dumplings make you sick!" She scolds me like I was her little sister

"I know! But their dumplings are the best. Even you can't argue with that." I point out and she sighs.

"They're so good." She groans out we break into a fit of laughter. "Anyway. I wanted to ask if you and Vincent were up for a double date with me and Steve?"

That's right. Vincent and I are still dating. Even though I expected us to be engaged by now, our schedules have been crazy and we barely have time for one another. He finally took over his family business this year and has had to attend hundreds of meetings and basically get used to life as a billionaire. Whereas I am now working with a consultancy firm in their legal team. My hours are crazy too as most of our clients are international I sometimes get home at 3 am.

It's crazy to think about how my kidnapping was over 3 years ago now. It seems like a lifetime ago. I have been keeping tabs on Christopher and last time I checked which was a week ago, he is still in prison.

"Amara! Where do you keep drifting off too?" Kelly shakes me and I come back to reality.

"I'm sorry! I don't know why but I'm so out of it today. But to your question, yes we would love too. I'll have a look at both of our schedules and let you know when we can both make it." I smile at her and she rolls her eyes.

"Okay fine. Now give me the Davidson file." She groans as she asks for the file and I chuckle.

Kelly and I met when I joined this year. She's 26, has gorgeous red hair which shines in the sun, is dating Steve from PR and is probably my closest friend here. She's been here in this firm for 2 years now and is craving for a change in her life. But Steve isn't the biggest fan of change. So for the sake of their relationship and love, she is staying at the firm until she can find another job.

"I'm going to make some tea, do you want some?" I ask as I give her the file.

"Is that even a question?"

The second I stand I feel a rush off vomit racing upwards and I run into the bathroom and let it all out.

A second later I feel someone holding my hair up and soothing my back as I feel another wave of vomit. I wait another moment but feel okay and get up.

I clean the area up as well as I could do but feel the world spin slightly and I grip onto Kelly tightly.

"Oh, honey." She lets me sit on the closed toilet seat and rushes out to grab some water I assume. I hear her heels run into the toilet and she hands me my bottle.

I gulp down the entire bottle in 3 seconds.

"Thanks." I finally say as I pop a piece of gum into my mouth.

"As I don't this is because of the dumplings," Kelly says softly and I look at her confused. "When the last time you got your period?"

"Oh, last..." I stop to think for a moment. "6 weeks ago. I'm two weeks late." I whisper out the last part.
