It was definitely not his brother, Mycroft trusted John because he was a very responsible father and he cared about Sherlock too. John proved his reliability for more than one time.
The cat also hadn't got a tracking device, so the sender of this cat knew where the receiver lived, so that wasn't odd that they met the cat exactly nearby their home. Sherlock concluded that the sender was their enemy.
He had thought he won the great game, he solved the final problem, he ruined Jim's gang, he had beaten James Moriarty after all! Indeed, Sherlock did ruin Moriarty's gang all over the world, but he couldn't deal with it in England, because he had to be undercover. Whom did Sherlock leave with no attention?
The meeting at the pool suddenly turned up in Sherlock's mind. He started to recall that event.
This person who sent the cat had known for sure that their plan would work.
The Consulting Detective heard clearly his thoughts and he started thinking over why he said "their" plan.
Usually Sherlock had to deal with males-criminals... It was easier to exclude the minority first, so he started thinking about a female part of criminals.
Some keywords Sherlock was thinking about: female, pool, snipers, aims, how many?, wall, feelings, betrayer, liar, cat, mew...
*mind palace*
The swimming pool.
Sherlock was standing near John, on the opposite side to Moriarty. Some snipers were holding their rifles at him and John, some of them at the roof of the swimming pool.
<<How many?>>, he questioned himself, <<How many snipers and how many red dots were there?>>
He started to turn around, searching the sniper's dots.
<<Which question is more important right now?>>, he asked, <<The second one.>>
He pointed at every laser to count them and as soon as he pointed at them they disappeared.
<<There were three lasers on John's chest.>>, he pointed at them and they immediately disappeared, <<Three lasers on my head and one laser on the wall, right above me.>>, the detective remembered.
<<No, no.>>, he swore, <<Bring it back!>>
He waved his hand at the point where the laser's dot was originally on the wall and it came back.
<<Seven lasers in total.>>, he whispered.
<<But why are you there?>>, he asked and looked at the seventh dot.
<<Why is one rifle aiming the wall?>>, Sherlock questioned himself and went out of his mind palace.
*mind palace end*
<<There could be only two reasons for it: there was only one sniper holding seven rifles or there were more than one sniper and the one that aimed the wall didn't want to aim me or John for some reason.>>, the detective immediately answered his question.
Then the only Consulting Detective started pondering on this topic. <<There's no connection with the cat if Sebastian Moran, faithful Moriarty's assistant, was working alone.>>, said Sherlock to himself, being a bit baffled.
<<The second version of the reason to aim the wall is: Feelings. Human error. A female sniper. It's all coming together!>>, Sherlock said happily, getting the first clue.
