"what are you and spencer doing for your third anniversary ?" Garcia asked you standing by your desk while you fill out some paperwork

"I thought I would surprise him you know with a homemade dinner and some new books I bought him and maybe ... some fun in the sheets," you said as you winked at her with a seductive smirk but ended up failing miserably

she laughed and then awed at you

but abruptly stopped when spencer just walked straight pass you to his desk not even sparing one glance at you two, he was to busy staring at his watch and speedily working through his paperwork when he got back to his desk

Garcia and yourself gave each other wearily looks but you were more confused because usually, he would stop by you to kiss you on the cheek and then go to his desk ... which started you to make you wonder

"I'll be right back," you told Garcia as you got up and went to spencer at his desk

"hey there pretty boy," you asked spencer as you sat on the edge of his desk
to what confused you the most was that he didn't look up at you or even acknowledge your presence unit you nudged him a little with your hand on his shoulder and he tensed up a bit
which you brushed off his you taking him out of his working daze

he looked up at you a with a blank stare and a bit annoyance which shocked you, even more, was what he said next

"what do you need from me y/n?" he asked uncharacteristically

you were speechless, to say the least

"i- i- just wanted to see what's up with you," you told him looking at him with such loving eyes but behind it was just confusion at his sudden outburst but his eyes just showed coldness and agitated-ness but he was trying to hide it

"well nothings up with me Y/N. I'm ... I'm just stressed with... with all this paperwork, why do you ask" he said sounding more like he was trying to convince himself more than you

your hand was still on his shoulder which felt like he was trying to get you to remove it from himself soon as possible because it was like he was trying to give you a hint to leave him alone ... it was almost like he forgot about your anniversary or that you were his girlfriend

you removed your hand and it looked like he relaxed his whole body but he tried to cover it up but failed because you did notice

you did say anything though, you let it off but it just bothered you from the way he was acting with you

but before you could say anything else he beat you to it

"um, y/n I need to get all this paperwork done so could u please leave me alone ... i'll see you at home later tonight okay ?" he sounded like he just wanted to get rid of you so you let him be like he had better things to to rather than talk to you but you didn't think anything of it because maybe he just really wanted to get all this paperwork done so you obliviously nodded to him and let him be

but inside you were kinda hurt and surprised and you were questioning everything

what's his problem?

did he forget our anniversary?

did I do something?

am I being too clingy?

should I just give him some space?

does he want to break up with me?

does he not love me anymore?

why is he so distant?

these were all the questions floating around your head at the moment right after you collected your stuff from your desk and went straight to your car your mind wasn't in the right place and your vision was clouded to the point where you couldn't see where you were driving that you almost crashed but caught yourself right in time before you collided with another car by your apartment buildings street

you moved in with spencer 6 months ago and those were your happiest months with spencer because as of right now you weren't sure you were as happy as you were then.

is the honeymoon phase true?

did the phase pass so quickly to the point where awkward, shy, plus so many other words you could use to describe Spencer not happy with you anymore?

after three loving years being together has gone down the drain already-

it couldn't have ... you were hopelessly in love with this adorably shy and awkward genius, you would die for him, you would do anything in your power to make him happy and he knows this too he even once said the same thing and he would make sure to tell you repeatedly

you thought about marrying him, you thought of him as the one but as of right now it didn't feel as so. As soon as you entered your shared apartment with the relatively cold genius you called your boyfriend

you dropped to the floor and all your emotions exploded in one big mess

all your emotions turned into a big ol' crashing wave of sadness to the point where you spent 45 minutes bawling your eyes out by your apartment door on your butt with your arms hugging your legs with your face buried in your arms once you stopped crying because you couldn't breathe anymore, you took a deep breath in and got up and went to your shared room with your boyfriend and stripped yourself of your clothing to go take a scalding hot shower to which you just stood there for a good 20 minutes staring at nothing with a blank face.

after you were finished cleaning yourself of your day you looked at yourself in the mirror to see how bad you looked

your wet hair now tangled because you ended up on the floor of your bathtub and sobbing your heart out

it made you want to just dissolve into nothingness because you felt so so- you could come up with a word because you kept telling yourself excuses of why spencer being was so cold to you.

this wasn't the first time this had happed either

it happed a month ago

and two weeks before but it just hurts more and more every time this happens

you moved away from that retched mirror and went to go change into your nightwear, you ended up scrapping your anniversary plans because you could feel that spencer wasn't coming home anytime soon, so you ended up getting a box of tissues

you went back to your room to put on some tv (which you begged for because spencer didn't like tech but you gave a pleading case so you guys could cuddle while watching parks and recs which was your favorite show)

you smiled at the thought but only to end up with dirty tissues and some trust issues .....
