Y/N arrived home a little over an hour later to an empty house. She hadn't counted on Jimin staying, but she had sure hoped he would. She put away the groceries and cleaned up the kitchen, starting the dishwasher. She found herself already missing the quiet cat even though they had only known each other for a few hours. For a little while, she didn't feel alone in the empty house.
Y/N visited the shelter the next morning to see about adopting a hybrid. Although they were all sweet and adorable, no particular one stuck out to her. For some reason, she couldn't get her mind of the cautious cat that he spent the night at her house.
To try and get her mind off Jimin, she decided to volunteer at the shelter instead. Hopefully she would get to know the hybrids and find one that could replace the cat that she was missing. All the staff at the shelter were kind and caring so it made her time there much more enjoyable.
Over the course of the day, she got to know the hybrid doctor on staff, Jung Hoseok. He was extremely handsome with beautiful brown hair that looked as soft as silk and eyes the color of melted milk chocolate. However, Y/N was drawn to his caring and bubbly personality. The hybrids clearly adored him and for good reason. He invited Y/N to join him for coffee the next morning and she happily accepted.
Y/N left the shelter that afternoon with a smile on her face. Spending time with the hybrids and Dr. Jung had made all the difference in the world. That evening though, her mind drifted back to Jimin. She hoped the small cat was safe, but she began to feel sad that she would probably never see him again.
The next morning, Hoseok was waiting outside the café when Y/N arrived. He greeted her with a smile and an enthusiastic "good morning." Hoseok opened the door and the bells hanging above it tinkled brightly as they entered.
A handsome man with blond hair and the fullest lips Y/N had even seen greeted them as they approached the counter. "Hobi! What a surprise! What brings you in here so early?" the man asked, with a surprised but pleased smile.
Hoseok smiled at the man in return. "Good morning, Jin. I was in desperate need of a good cup of coffee and knew this was the best place to get it," he said brightly. Hoseok turned to Y/N. "Y/N, this is Kim Seokjin. He's the owner of the cafe and one of my good friends."
Y/N reached out a hand to the handsome man. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Kim."
Jin took her hand in his. "The pleasure is all mine, but please, just call me Jin."
Y/N nodded in agreement. Hoseok ordered coffee for the both of them then led her to a table to sit. "You must come here a lot, Dr. Jung," she said jokingly, referring to the way the handsome café owner didn't even need to ask him what his order was.
Hoseok laughed. "Please Y/N. Hoseok or Hobi is fine, but yes. I do come here quite often. Jin makes the best coffee around and his soups are to die for! It's my favorite lunch spot."
Jin brought their orders over: a caramel macchiato and a banana nut muffin for Hoseok and a vanilla latte and blueberry muffin for Y/N. "Don't let him fool you Y/N. He doesn't come see me as nearly as often as he used to," he said, a pout on his full beautiful lips.
Y/N laughed out loud at his silly reaction. "If the food tastes as good as it smells then I may become your most frequent customer," she teased, holding the steaming cup up to her nose and breathing in the aromatic fragrance.
Jin laughed. "Guess I'm going to be seeing you an awful lot then," he replied. "My food is the best around."
Hoseok nodded in agreement, taking a tentative sip of his own coffee. "Ahh Jin! Perfect as usual. We should get married so you can make my coffee every morning," he suggested.
Jin snorted then smacked Hoseok with the towel tucked into his waistband. "As much as I adore you my friend, you could not handle this fabulousness," he scoffed then sauntered away, leaving the two laughing behind him.
Sighing in mock frustration, Hoseok ran a hand through his dark hair. "I love him, but he's probably right," he admitted. "That man would run me into the ground."
Y/N smiled at his bubbly personality. He made her laugh and she loved being around his sunny presence. They enjoyed their coffee while getting to know each other. Before they parted ways, Hoseok gave her his private number.
"If you ever need anything, please call me. Even if it's just to get coffee again," he explained.
Y/N thanked him and left the cafe. Hoseok could hear Jin laughing at the counter and turned to glare at his friend.
"She's a pretty one, isn't she?" Jin asked, wagging his eyebrows and making Hoseok roll his eyes.
"Yeah she sure is," Hoseok replied, sending his friend a quick goodbye before leaving the café.
The next several days passed by quickly. Y/N had set up her home office in the small alcove off the living room. It wasn't big enough to be used as an actual room, but it was the perfect spot to write. It had a large bay window that overlooked the backyard of the house. In front of the window she placed a small desk that she had found in an antique shop. It was a dark cherry color that she absolutely adored. She set up her laptop on the desk and this was where she spent most of her days. As a published author, she didn't have a normal schedule, so she was home most of the time. She met with her editor once a week in his fancy office downtown, but other than that, she didn't go out much. She was fortunate to have a job where she could work from home.
Y/N hadn't been to the shelter in a few days since she was trying to get a chapter finished. She had missed meeting with her editor this week since he was at a convention and wanted to make sure she was prepared for him the next week. Hoseok had texted her to check on her, wanting to make sure everything was okay and Y/N appreciated the considerate doctor.
Late one evening, Y/N was sitting at her desk finishing up the last page of her chapter when the doorbell rang, startling her. Y/N looked down up in surprise, wondering who could be knocking on her door since she definitely wasn't expecting anyone. She didn't know anyone in the area besides Hoseok and he didn't have any idea where she lived. Y/N opened the door and gasped in surprise at the blood streaked male hybrid with black hair and white ears.
"Help me, Y/N," Jimin said, reaching out for her before collapsing to the floor.
