Y/N looked down at the test in her hand, waiting for the positive result to change. "How did this happen?" she asked Hoseok.
"Well sweetie, when two people love each other very much, they sometimes have..." Hoseok started.
Y/N smacked his arm then rolled her eyes. "I know where babies come from Doc. I'm on birth control. How did this happen?" she asked, waving the test in the air and pointing to her belly.
Hoseok's smile sobered. "Unfortunately, birth control isn't 100% effective," he explained. "There's also a higher risk because Jimin is a hybrid. And remember what I said about a hybrid being able to get a human pregnant."
Y/N looked surprised. "Damn," she said. "I thought we were being safe."
Hoseok patted her hand. "It's going to be okay," he replied, his voice gentle and reassuring. "You need to make an appointment with an OB immediately."
"Since this is a hybrid baby, can you be my doctor? You know hybrids and humans," Y/N asked hesitantly, not wanting to trust anyone else.
Hoseok thought for a second. "That's not a bad idea," he said. "Since you're here now, we can get started." Hoseok rummaged in a file cabinet and pulled out a stack of papers. "I want you to fill this one out," he said pointing to the first.
Y/N took the papers and scanned the first. It was a medical history questionnaire. The rest of the papers were about pregnancy and hybrid fetuses.
"I also want to check the heartbeat with a Doppler and do an ultrasound while you're here. The Doppler will tell us how healthy the heart is and the ultrasound will give you the first look at your baby," Hoseok explained.
Y/N nodded and Hoseok led her into an examination room. She set her purse and the papers down on a chair. Hoseok helped her up on the bed and asked her to lie down and lift her shirt. He rubbed a cool gel on her abdomen then ran a small machine over it.
Y/N didn't hear anything at first, but then heard a quick swishing sound. It sounded like a washing machine. Y/N looked at Hoseok and he smiled at her then looked down at the machine.
"That's your baby's heartbeat and it sounds great," Hoseok said.
Y/N released the breath she didn't realize she had been holding. "It's so fast," she said in awe.
Hoseok tilted his head. "It's about right. A cat's heartbeat is a little faster than normal and so is a baby. This one is perfectly fine." Hoseok moved the Doppler away and set it down. He pulled another machine close then turned on a monitor. He squirted more gel on her lower abdomen then ran the wand of a different machine over it.
Y/N watched the monitor closely. She didn't see anything at first, but then a grainy picture came into view. Y/N's eyes filled with tears and they spilled down her cheeks. That was her baby on the screen. Her's and Jimin's. They were going to be parents.
Hoseok pointed to a flickering on the screen. "That's the heartbeat. I'm going to take some measurements and we'll see how far along you are" he said. He moved the wand around and pressed a couple buttons on the screen. "I'd say about 8 weeks."
Y/N looked surprised. "I've had a period," she said, still in disbelief about how this was all happening.
Hoseok nodded. "Sometimes that's normal. It's not really part of your cycle, but implantation bleeding," he explained. He pressed a couple more buttons on the monitor before pulling the wand away. He handed Y/N a soft cloth to wipe the gel from her abdomen.
Y/N cleaned herself up and sat up, her mind filled with worry. Jimin and her never talked about having children and they had only been together a short while. Would he be happy? Would it be something he wanted? The thought of Jimin leaving her made her feel sick to her stomach. She rubbed her belly gently unable to believe that there was a baby in there, a baby that Jimin and her made together. No matter what Jimin felt about it, Y/N knew for her this was baby was a product of the immense amount of love she had for him.
Hoseok came over with two black and white papers. "Here. The first pictures of your baby," he said.
Y/N's eyes filled again as she looked down at the ultrasound pictures. She hopped down from the table and wrapped Hoseok in a bear hug. "Thank you so much," she cried.
Hoseok looked surprised at first, but then hugged her back. "You're so welcome sweetie," he said gently.
Y/N's smile faded. "I don't know what to say to Jimin. What if he doesn't want this?" she asked.
Hoseok hugged her tighter. "Jimin loves you. I'm sure he will be thrilled."
Y/N looked down at her still flat stomach. "I hope you're right. I already love this baby so much," she whispered.
As Y/N left the clinic, she made a quick stop at the hybrid store. She wanted to pick up a couple extra shirts for Jimin so they weren't washing his work shirts every other day. She found the shirts quickly then wandered over to the baby hybrid section.
The pastel selection of sleepers and onesies caught her eye, along with the mass amount of fuzzy blankets. She picked up a little yellow sleeper with a white cat on the chest and her heart melted, imagining her baby wearing this, her and Jimin's baby. She touched her belly gently, still a little in shock about what was happening.
A hand on her shoulder had her turning around in surprise. A pretty wolf hybrid with fuzzy grey ears was standing behind her. Y/N immediately took in the swollen belly and glow of happiness on her face. "First baby?" the woman asked, gesturing towards the sleeper in Y/N's hand.
Y/N nodded, her eyes instantly went to her still flat stomach. "Um... yes," she replied, her voice unsteady. "My... my boyfriend is a cat hybrid." A smile graced her face as she thought about the cat who had captured her heart.
The woman's eyes lit up at Y/N's words. "My husband is a human," she replied, holding her left hand up and showing Y/N the beautiful gold wedding ring on her hand. "It's nice to see human-hybrid relationships. How does your boyfriend feel about the news? Is he excited to become a daddy?"
Y/N's smiled dropped and her eyes filled with worry. "He... he doesn't know yet. I just found out today," she stammered.
The woman reached out and rubbed a hand on Y/N's shoulder, trying to soothe the nervous girl in front of her. "It's going to be okay sweetie," she reassured, her voice caring. "I can feel it. You love him right?"
Y/N nodded emphatically. "More than anything," she gushed. "Jimin... is everything. My everything."
"See sweetie?" the woman said. "This baby was created in love. I can tell he or she is going to be a lucky little one." The woman looked down at her watch. "My husband is waiting for me. Please don't worry too much. Everything is going to be alright." She gave Y/N one final smile and walked off. A handsome man met her at the end of the aisle, wrapping an arm around her waist and placing a hand on her swollen belly.
Even from the distance, Y/N could see the love and adoration he had for his pregnant wife and their unborn baby. Y/N looked down at her own stomach and sighed, her mind still filled with worry. She hoped Jimin would love their baby just as much.
