"Finally," Y/N said, as she put the last empty box out in the alley to be taken away by the garbage truck. She had finally finished unpacking all the boxes after moving into her new house and was finally ready to take a much needed break. She closed the back gate, making sure it was locked before she headed up to her deck. She paused at the foot of the stairs when she noticed movement underneath the deck.
Y/N pulled her phone out of her pocket and turned on the flashlight, illuminating the darkness underneath the weathered wood. Crouched underneath her deck with his head down was a small, dirty hybrid. His soft looking white ears could be seen poking up out of his tangled black hair and his tail was curled protectively around his body. Y/N reached out towards him and he flattened his ears against his head and hissed at her, further identifying him as a cat hybrid.
Y/N quickly drew her hand back, quickly understanding he didn't want her to touch him. "Hey hey hey. It's okay," Y/N reassured, her voice soft and gentle. "I won't hurt you. Can you tell me your name?"
The hybrid shrunk back under the deck, further into the shadows and away from her. His wild dark eyes glared at her suspiciously before he put his head back down, hiding his face from her.
Y/N backed away from the deck, giving the scared hybrid his space. "It's okay. You can stay right there. I just moved in the house right here so no one is going to make you go anywhere if you don't want to. Are you hungry?" The hybrid didn't look up at her, but the low grumble coming from his stomach answered the question for her. "I'm going to get you some food. I'll be right back."
Y/N hurried up the stairs of the deck and headed into the house. She put some leftover pizza from dinner on a plate then heated it up in the microwave, wanting to give the scared hybrid a hot meal. At the ding, she pulled the plate from the microwave then grabbed a can of soda and a bottle of water. Y/N headed back outside, not even sure if the scared cat was still there. When she peeked under, she could see that the hybrid was still hidden in the shadows, so Y/N crouched down and left the meal right under the edge of the deck.
"I know you don't know me, but it's supposed to be really chilly tonight. If you don't want to sleep here under the deck, I have an extra bedroom you can use. It's not very fancy, but the bed is comfortable and it's warm inside," Y/N said. She wasn't sure what made her offer the bedroom, but something in her mind told her that this hybrid wasn't a threat. The hybrid lifted his head and looked at her quietly. "Well, I will leave the back door unlocked if you decide you would like the bed." Y/N got up and started to head toward the stairs.
"Why?" said a small voice, halting her progress.
Y/N turned back and crouched back down. "Why what?"
"Why are you being so nice and trusting?" he asked, his voice harsh. "You don't know who I am."
Y/N looked at him with a small smile on her face. "Well, if you wanted to hurt me, I'm sure you already could have. Plus, my mom always said if I can help someone then I should."
The hybrid moved further out of the shadows until he was at the edge of the deck. He reached out for the food she left him and retreated quickly back into the shadows. "Thank you," he said.
Y/N stood up. "The bed is there if you're interested." She left the hybrid alone and headed up the stairs of the deck and let herself back into the house. She left the door unlocked as promised and went to her bathroom to take a shower.
Y/N was just settling down on the couch when she heard a sound at the back door. She turned to see the door slowly open and the hybrid peek his head around the edge. He slid in the door and shut it quietly behind him. He made his way through the kitchen on silent feet, but froze when he saw Y/N watching him.
Y/N was finally able to get a good look at him and was shocked by just how beautiful he was. His black hair, although tangled, looked as soft as silk. His white ears were twitching nervously and he was holding his tail protectively in front of his body. Although his perfect face had several scratches, it didn't take away from the beauty of his face. He was petite, but seemed to be well built, if a little on the thin side. His white t-shirt was ripped in places with streaks of blood and dirt. His tight blue jeans were caked in mud and ripped at the knees. He had on dirty, worn out sneakers on his feet. Y/N realized she was staring and shook her head quickly to dispel her thoughts.
"If the offer is still there, I... would like the bed," the nervous cat said, his voice quiet, but sweet sounding. "You were right. It's... it's starting to get cold out there."
Y/N nodded. "Of course. I was hoping you would agree," she replied. "It's too cold for anyone to be out there right now."
The cat gave her a hesitant smile, but didn't say anything else. He shifted back and forth, his nervousness clearly showing.
"There's a bathroom right down that hall if you want to get cleaned up. There's towels in the cabinet below the sink and I can bring you some clothes that belong to my brother if you would like," Y/N said gently. The hybrid nodded his head in thanks. "I'm Y/N."
"My name is Jimin. Park Jimin," he said quietly.
"Go ahead and get cleaned up," Y/N said, gesturing towards the door. "You might feel better after a nice warm shower." Jimin nodded and headed to the door she pointed at, clutching his tail in front of him.
Y/N got up and went to her bedroom to get clothes that Jay had left behind at her old house. She pulled out a pair of black joggers and a grey hoodie. Jay was quite a bit bigger than Jimin, but it would have to do for now. At least they would be warm. Y/N went to the bathroom door and knocked. "Jimin," she said, "I brought you some clothes. They'll probably be big, but it's the best I can do."
The door opened slightly and Y/N passed the clothes through the small space. "Thank you," Jimin said quietly before closing the door again.
