Sabrina POV
The drive back to Jayla and Shane's house was quiet. I was trapped in my own head hoping that I was making the right decision and that no one will get hurt by my actions. I always wondered why I was stuck with a family of no-hopers. My father left when I was 10 for greener grass. My mother was addicted to crack by my eleventh birthday. I have gone the last 9 years with nothing. No love from my mother or father. My brother died from a drug overdose 3 years ago, so supporting my mother fell on me.
Arriving at the house. I grab my bag and head straight to the spare room. I place my bag on the bed and sit down next to it. The tears start falling automatically without any help. I lower my head into my hands and let sob after sob out.
"Sabs Hunny. You don't need to cry over her. She won't cry over you" Jayla comes in a sits with me on the bed. She wraps her arms around me and brings my head down into her chest. Smoothing my hair down like a mother should comfort their child. "I just wish everything was different La, I'm sick and tired of always feeling like this. I just want to know where I went wrong in my life to be stuck in that place of no love and care. Only used for money. I'm 19 for god's sake. I'm 19, never been kissed, never been touched by anyone. Am I really that ugly?"
Jayla couldn't answer my questions but I knew deep down if she could she would. "How about you get some rest, gorgeous girl. Drinks Friday night ok. We will get you a little bit more than tipsy this weekend. You won't have to worry about anything" She blows me a kiss and leaves the room. I strip off my work clothes and change into my pj's. Crawling into bed, I can feel some of the stress from being at home lifting off my shoulders. I close my eyes and sleep comes quickly for me.

The rest of the week has flown by. I never received a phone call or a message from my mother after leaving on Monday night. I am actually happy that I haven't heard from her at all. Jayla is helping me get ready for karaoke tonight down at the local. "Clearly my mother doesn't give two shits about me. I really don't give a flying fuck about her though La. Thank you again for letting me stay here though. You have no idea how grateful I am for you being in my life" La throws her arms around my neck and pulls me into her. "I'm the lucky one here Sabs. You never cared about my weirdness so you are pretty special to me" Jayla kisses me on my cheek and taps my butt cheek "let's get you ready for a good bloody night"
I look into the mirror and see that Jayla has given me smokey eyes. I am wearing my favourite pair of black skinny jeans with my bright yellow halter top and my little black boots. "Please and I mean it please don't try to set me up tonight La. I am not interested in dating anyone right now unless it's Mr. Hottie from Monday" I say with a giggle at the end. "Oh Sabs, come on Hunny you are 19. It's time to live a little and who knows, your knight in shining metal might be there" she says with a wink. I roll my eyes and leave the room.
We arrive at the bar and make our way into the venue. We come here nearly every Friday night. The girls we meet up with are girls we went to school with. Unfortunately, I never finished school because of my family situation so I never really got to bond with them. I really only come to get Jayla off my back. I take a seat at the table and pleasantly say hello to the group. Jayla nods her head towards the bar and takes off. She knows my order like the back of her hand.
I'm 3 jack and cokes in and feeling a little bit more than tipsy. The DJ announces the next person up "Alright, alright, everyone we have a newbie tonight so let us make him feel welcome. Come on down Michael" The crowd goes wild. Usually no one new ever goes up to sing. You always have the regulars who cannot hold a note in their life. We only come for the entertainment.
I look towards the stage with everyone else and as soon as I saw his face I grabbed a hold of Jayla's forearm. She looks to me "Ummmm Sabs you wanna let me go now" I cannot form a sentence by this point. "Mr" *gulp* "Hottie" *gulp* "on" *gulp* "stage" Jayla spins her head towards the stage and checks out 'Mr. Hottie' "Oh my god Sabrina. I know you said he was hot but damn gurl. Maybe I'll go and introduce myself" Jayla winks at me and I know she is joking.
I'm staring at this marvelous specimen and watching what he is doing at the same time. He spots me and our eyes lock in place. He speaks into the microphone introducing his song. "Tonight I will be singing 'Waiting for a girl like you' by Foreigner"
He starts singing the song and staring at me. I must be in my own little world as I cannot take my eyes off of him. It feels like he is singing this song to me and only me.
The song must have finished a while ago because the next thing I know is, I have been slapped across the face by Jayla. "Earth to Sabrina. You better get out of your head chick cause 'Mr. Hottie' is on his way over. I look up just in time to see him reach our table.
