Michael POV
Looking at my beautiful girl in the mess she is in, is killing me. Last night she gave herself to me, and now her heart is breaking. All because of the woman who once loved her. In the past month, Sabrina has opened up about her upbringing. She had a normal childhood up until the day her father left. Her mother and brother turned to drugs to cope and used her as their punching bag. Verbal and physical punching bag.
Sometimes I wish I could take away all her pain. These things will take time, but I know in my heart, and I can say this even after only being together for a month, that I will be there for her from now until forever and I will help her overcome the hurt and pain her family has caused her.
While Sabrina is sleeping on my chest, I quietly talk with Jayla and Shane about her home life. "I don't know if I should be opening up about her life Michael. You are still a stranger to me" Jayla whispers with concern lacing her voice. "I understand Jayla. I love your best friend. I love her with all of my heart". Jayla looks at me with shock and confusion written all over her face. "You love her?" She says, disbelief all over her face. "Yeah, I do Jayla. I know you probably think it is too soon, but this past month has been one of the best months of my life. Sabrina is an amazing woman. One who I want to love and protect for the rest of our lives."
"Oh Michael, you have seriously made me the happiest person in the fucking world. Sabrina deserves the best of the best, and you are giving it to her" The disbelief and shock has been replaced with love and appreciation all over her face.
Jayla, Shane and I speak for another hour about Sabrina's upbringing from the moment her father left until that Monday I met her at the grocery store. What started out as a once a week, just to get high drug habit, her mother turned to using daily, and her outburst were always thrown towards Sabrina. She would accuse a 12-year-old of sleeping around, screwing all of the drug dealers in the area. By the age of 15, Sabrina had been admitted into the hospital numerous times with concussion, due to her mother and late brother pushing her around and throwing her into walls and to the ground, when going through withdrawals.
I made it my mission from this day forward to make sure no more harm comes towards this beautiful human being. Enough is enough. She deserves the world and all the finer things it has to offer, and, I will be the one who gives them all to her.
**
The past three weeks have flown by but every day with Sabrina is only getting better. Our relationship is soaring. Yeah, we have little disagreements every now and again, but we always tell each other that we love each other at the end of the day. She has been an absolute superstar. The day after the phone call, Jayla kept her word and took Sabs down to the phone shop and got her number changed.
We are now both back at work—me in my office going over more planning and more spending. I needed to get the car park fixed. Potholes everywhere and the majority of the painted lines were gone. It would cost me thousands to fix, but it was worth paying that now instead of having insurance companies sending me bills.
I inherited the complex from my Grandfather after he passed away. My grandparents raised me since I was six after my parents died in a boating accident. I was meant to go with them on the waters that day, but I had come down with a stomach bug, and my grandparents told my parents to go and have a fun afternoon on their own. Only they never came back.
I have been in charge of this place for the past six years. I took over the reins at 18, and I am now 24. It has been a challenge at some points in time, but I love a challenge. I absolutely love what I do, and I would never change anything about it. Business is booming. All tenancies are taken and happy with how I run the place. Even after having to increase the rent two months ago, I have been blessed with fantastic tenants.
Now all that is left for me to do is make sure the love of my life, can move on from her horrible upbringing and live a long and healthy life full of love and joy with me beside her.
