Chapter 5 - The Death of Vibe

MacKenzie's POV

"You sure he's in there?" Barry asks as him and Nora get to the site

I'm in the cortex, again, while they're out there in the field

"I'm certain." Sherloque says, walking around the desk. "Now, your evidence, while slight, was enough to build a psychological profile. This is a man hiding in the shadows. This is someone who's been pushed to the peripheries of society, and then now he sits alone waiting for the moment to strike. All this, plus the census data cross-referenced with the location of his attacks, and the profile narrows to one name David Hersch."

"Nora's plan might actually work." Iris says

"Once inside, you should find a small booby trap."

"I found it." Barry says

"I'm on it." Nora says

:Here is the critical part. It's a decoy." Sherloque says

An explosion erupts from the area

Barry speeds and stops David Hersch

"Not so tough without your dagger, huh?" Barry says. "We got him." He tells us

I lean against the wall of CCPD next to Nora

Nora looks to the door, waiting for Barry

The door opens and Barry is there

"That's ridiculous!" David says. "I don't know what you're talking about. You don't got anything on me!"

Barry closes the door

"Well, he sounds angry." Nora says

"Yeah." Barry says. "Forensics examined Hersch's hideout and they found evidence linking him to several anti-government bombings. He's been doing it for a while."

"So we got him." Nora says excited

"I don't know." Barry says. "They didn't find any sign of his dagger or his mask."

"Dad, one CSI to another look at the facts, okay?" Nora says. "Sherloque is the best detective in the Multiverse. His profile led us to David Hersch, and we found evidence that David Hersch is a mass murderer. What are the chances that this isn't our guy?"

"I mean, maybe." Barry says

"Come on, we should celebrate." Nora says. "Okay, I'm gonna gather everyone up, make some drinks, and we can have our first party in the new lounge."

"I don't know, Nora. I-" Barry tries but Nora had already sped out

I watch her go

Barry turns around to me

"Next time you say I'm too energetic..." I start, pointing to where Nora just left

Barry looks down, laughing slightly

"Are you going back to STAR Labs?" Barry asks me. "I can run you there real quick."

"Uh, no, I'm kinda tired." I tell him. "Plus I have school work to catch up on."

"Uh, okay." Barry says

"Can you drop me at Joe's." I tell him

"Okay." Barry says.

He speeds me out and to Joe's

Barry speeds away after dropping me on the porch

I knock on the door before opening it and walking in
