Chapter 26: Regret

*Sofia's Pov*

I woke up to my alarm clock. Ugh. Hayes was right beside me. I was shaking him to wake up.

"I wanna sleep." He groaned while putting his head under the pillow.

I went to the bathroom and filled a cup of water. I then came back to the room and poured it on him.

I burst out laughing. "I'm up!" He yelled. "Just watch your back." He smirked.

He went to his room to get ready.

Hmm it's January and I don't know what to wear.

I looked through my closet and finally found something.

I took a quick shower and then put on my clothes. I wore some skinny jeans with my pink doc martens. Then I put on a black north face. I put my hair in a side braid like Katniss. Yes, as in Katniss Everdeen. 

By the time I was downstairs, Hayes was already done.

"Ready to go?" He asked.

"Yup." I said popping the p.

We walked out. I had to ask Hayes about why Iris was at his place yesterday.

"Hayes?"

"Yeah?" He said already knowing what I'm about to say.

"Why was I-" I got cut off by him speaking.

"She said I can't tell anyone. But I'll protect you." I say.

"Protect me from what?" I ask.

"She thinks your in L.A. She said If I don't go out with her you'll pay the price. Or if I tell you, you'll pay." He said.

"She came to my house because she thought I was happy about you leaving." He added.

"Oh." I say. I didn't wanna talk about this anymore. We walked silently to school. It felt like the beginning of the school year when we didn't talk.

We entered the school. Hayes walked me to my locker. He has be so protective lately. I met Anna and Michele at the lockers. Hayes kissed me goodbye and went to hangout with his friends.

"Hey!" Michele says.

"Hiiii." I reply.

"Where's Matthew?" I ask Anna.

"Hanging out with his friends. I don't want him to just be with me, you know?" She says.

"Yeah." I reply thinking about Hayes.

Anna, Michele and I walked to first period class together. We walked in and went to our seats.

"Good morning class. Sofia and Hayes, I have your work from last week." Mr. Rivera said.

"Sofia and Hayes, if you didn't know already. We have 4 new transfer students and they happen to be in this very class." He adds.

My heart sank to the ground. I gulped.

I saw Iris. She looked at me with a surprised face. I guess she thought I was in L.A. with my parents.

"That is Iris Grace." Mr. Rivera said while pointing at Iris.

"And this is Aaliyah Guerra." He pointed at a girl who was sitting in the front.

"Over there is Kaysha Baez." He said while pointing to a girl 2 seats next to me.

"And lastly, that is Chidera Kampala." He pointed to a girl next to Iris.

Mr. River started teaching and I completely zoned out. I hope I come out of this school alive today. Hayes was next to me.
