Chapter 3: Strange Happenings

*At School*

*Sofia's Pov*
I walked through the door feeling like I usually do. Like a loner, but I felt eyes on me. I heard gasps and whispers. What's going on? Girls came up to me saying I looked pretty. I just
lost weight and changed my sense of style. I met Anna and Michele by the locker area. Matthew and Anna were together while Michele was texting her future boyfriend, Kian Lawley. "Hey guys." I said trying to get their attention. They looked up. "Oh my gosh hey!" Michele and Anna greeted. "Wow you look different!" Matthew said while letting out a friendly smile. Matthew and I were like brother and sister, we didn't like each other in that way. You know. Kian and I though... Not very good friends. He's best friends with Hayes. Matthew and Hayes weren't close because Hayes and Matthew liked the same girl in 6th grade but Matthew got that girl, Valencia Moniarc. Don't worry they broke up and then Matthew met Anna. All 4 of us talked until the bell rang when we were supposed to go to the auditorium to find out our teachers and schedule. I sat beside Michele, Anna and Matthew, and Kian. "Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to your first year of high school at Ridge Wood Academy! I'm your principle, Mrs. Mendes. I have a son who goes here, Shawn Mendes. So this is how you find out what homeroom you will have and what schedule you will receive. Note that people may have the same schedule but everyone has the same lunch time. Everyone will have to take a test and you will be put into clusters. This test will not determine who's the smartest, but it will determine who you shall work with. The teachers will now be passing out the tests. It should only take about 30 minutes. Good luck!" Mrs. Mendes said walking off the stage. I received a test.

I wanted to choose all of them, but I carefully chose the letter d. Next question.

I knew the answer right away: Letter D.
The questions became more deep while my answers became more truthful. I finally finished and I was escorted out of the auditorium seeing Hayes look very focused on his test. I wanted to laugh. I went to my locker and I was told to either stay here or at the cafeteria until everyone finished.

*Time Passes To When Everyone Completes Test*

We were sent home early because the teachers had to put us into our new classes and figure out schedules for us. I was walking home when my phone buzzed. I got a notification from the app "Ridge Wood Ranks." I sighed. I was probably down to the bottom. I was afraid to look at the ranks. I unlocked my phone and checked. #56 of #129. I was confused. People only like me cause I look different. Never judge a book by its cover. I looked at Hayes' rank: #1 not surprised. Elizabeth: #2 awe she made Hayes higher than her. So nice. (Sarcasm) Anna: #37 Michele: #55 right before me. Most of the athletes of school are before Anna. I locked my phone seeing my house. I was about to open the door when I heard Hayes, "Hey Sofia!" "Were you following me?!?" I said getting upset. "Listen I know your mad, but my family invited your family for dinner tonight." He said all happy and stuff. "I'm not going." I said closing the door when I heard him say something but interrupted him with the sound of my door. "What a day." I said getting a piece of fruit from the kitchen. I bit into my apple and started thinking. Why is Hayes talking to me? There's probably a reason. Most likely.
