Hanna pov

I placed the tray of pizza on the coffee table, having eaten until I felt sick. Emily gave me a smile, before I came to snuggle into her side. She kissed my forehead, as the tear trickled down my cheek. I had been crying since the movie started, and Emily pretended not to find it amusing, when in actual fact she was trying her hardest not to laugh at me.

"You're beautiful." She whispered in my ear, and I gave a humourless chuckle.

"Your definition of beautiful is way different from mine. Because right now my make up is running faster than Usain Bolt." I said, making her laugh. Just hearing her laugh made me smile, as it was one of my favourite sounds.

"You're still definitely beautiful. I promise." She gave me a look that said to trust her, and I pressed my lips to hers.

That's when there was a knock at the front door. I jumped up from beside Emily.

"I'll get it. You stay here and look cute." I said, giving her a wink before racing to get to the door. I opened it, to find my father stood there. He was dressed in a suit, and he smiled at me.

"Hey, Hanna. Can I come in?" He asked, as if it was the most normal thing to do. He shouldn't have to ask to come into his own house, but then again it didn't feel like his. He was never here. Always with Isabel and Kate. His new family.

"Erm, mum is at work. And I have Emily over." Somehow, I didn't want him knowing about our relationship just yet. But I also didn't want to call her my friend, as she was way more than that. My dad stood nervously, and I finally moved aside to let him in.

"So, how long will your mother be?" He asked, coming to sit at the kitchen table. I had followed him, and Emily had sauntered in after me.

"I'm sure she'll rush home after hearing that you're here." I said, trying not to sound bitter. I mean I should be happy that my dad was here. But considering he usually didn't even call me, I wasn't too bothered.

"Maybe we should surprise her." He suggested, smiling. I shrugged, going over to the cupboard to get a glass. I got another one for Emily, who had sat at the table and was checking me out.

"She doesn't like surprises. Especially ones on this scale." I didn't want to sound rude, but I'm sure my mum wouldn't appreciate coming home and finding her ex-husband casually sat at the table like nothing was wrong.

"Oh, in that case, maybe you should call her." He sounded disappointed, but I didn't mind. I set Em's drink in front of her, then sat beside her. As she was drinking, I placed my hand on her thigh under the table. She squirmed, and then tried to make it look natural. I bit my lip to stop myself from bursting into a fit of giggles. Em just gave me a look.

I took my phone from the middle of the table, and went to stand by the door to call my mum. I heard my dad and Emily talking in the background, and I smiled. Knowing that my father and girlfriend were getting along. Oh shit. Did I just refer to her as my girlfriend? We hadn't even made it official. Well, I had unexpected plans for tonight.

My mother answered on the second ring, and she sounded surprised. "Hanna, what's wrong?" of course my mother would jump to the conclusion that I was only calling because it was an emergency.

"Dad came home. He's here now. Wanted to surprise you but I told him not to. He's waiting for you." I gave a quick summary while fiddling with a bracelet. I heard my mother take a deep breath on the other end of the line.

"I'll be home soon." Was all she said before the line went dead. I could only assume that meant she wasn't too overthrilled at my dad's arrival. And to be honest, neither was I.
