Emily walked down the hall, her shoes making a clicking noise against the polished floor. She pushed open the door, and walked into the canteen. Looking around, she took an apple and walked over to a table in the far corner. She didn't want to sit out in the open, as it would probably attract unwanted attention. Looking towards the centre tables, she saw Noel Kahn and his gang of worshippers laughing, throwing their heads back. It looked so fake, and it annoyed Emily.
That was until Hanna slid into the seat opposite her, and then gave her a genuine smile. Emily returned it, taking a quick bite of the apple. Emily then regretted choosing an apple, as she was sort of a messy eater when it came to them. She reached to wipe the juice off her chin, but Hanna beat her to it with a napkin.
"So, I was wondering if you wanted to come to mine after school. My mum is out with some work friends, so I have the place to myself. And I get lonely." Hanna winked at Emily, and Emily smiled at her. Emily nodded, taking another bite of her apple.
"Sounds like a good idea. We could watch that new movie about that girl that falls in love with the guy." Emily briefly described the film, and Hanna eventually understood.
"But that's a soppy romantic one! It'll make me cry." Hanna exclaimed, hating the fact that she would cry in front of Emily. But the dark haired girl merely laughed, taking Hanna's hands over the table.
"All the more reason to watch it. It would give you an excuse to cuddle up to me." Hanna thought for a moment, and then her special smile broke out. The smile she reserved for Emily.
As the two girls talked, Aria walked into the canteen. She looked around for her brother, searching the sea of faces. The other students seemed to be engrossed in their different activities, and Aria tried to find Mike. After around five minutes, she gave up and walked over to the corner. She set down her lunch tray, and slid into a seat beside Hanna. She began to eat her sandwich defeatedly, worrying about where Mike was, and why he was avoiding everyone again. Maybe he was falling back into old habits. But then again, maybe not.
Hanna and Emily stayed quiet, speaking to each other through their facial expressions. After a while, Aria spoke up.
"You could cut the sexual tension with a knife." She blurted out, before stuffing a chocolate bar into her mouth with a little too much force. Hanna raised her perfect eyebrow, and Emily gave a smug smirk.
"What do you mean?" Hanna asked, attempting to hide the grin forming on her face. Aria looked at her as if Hanna had asked a stupid question, and then she looked back and forth between Hanna ans Emily, before her gaze rested back on Hanna.
"Seriously? You two should just get together. It's not like me and Spencer don't know what you two were up to in Hanna's room." Aria stated matter of factly, eating as if she hadn't just figured out a colossal secret. Emily looked amused, and Hanna looked downright shocked.
"How do you know?!" Hanna's voice was a little high pitched, showing her embarrasment as well as the blush on her cheeks.
"Lucky guess? And next time, don't moan so loudly, Han." Aria smirked, and Emily giggled. Hanna hid her face in embarrasment before standing up and pulling Emily away from the crowded canteen. They needed to speak alone. Alone alone.
Hanna pulled Emily into the girl's toilets, and then she pretended to do her make up until the two girls left. Finally, Hanna turned to Emily, a mischevious smile playing along her lips. Emily saw this, and immediately their lips connected. After a few minutes, Emily broke away.
"We can't do this here, Han. Anybody could come in at any moment! Then what would we do?" Emily straightened her shirt, and Hanna gave her a cheeky smirk.
"We would ask them if they wanted to join." Hanna whispered seductively before pushing Emily against the wall.
