"Go home."

"Jug, talk to me." Betty begged, tears in her eyes as she cupped his face in her shaking hands, a pleading look in her gaze as it locked with his.

Clearly Jughead hadn't been happy that Betty had done the Serpent dance, and at first she couldn't see why. They'd gotten through so much together, and it was only now that he was starting to get worried about her safety to the point where he was willing to push her away? Betty wasn't about to lose her boyfriend - she couldn't. It was hard enough having to be apart because of the Black Hood - she couldn't do it for real.

"Betty, please," Jughead's voice was weak, unlike his angry tone that it had held earlier. Looking closer she could see tears building in his eyes much like they were her's. "Go home." He moved his hands up to hers, lightly squeezing them before pulling them away from his face, and letting them go.

"Jug." Betty whispered as more tears fell, though he just turned around and started walking towards the bar. She stared at him walking away for a moment, before in a desperate attempt to keep them together, just simply yelled, "No!"

Jughead stopped, turning around to look at her with a stern but hurting expression. "Betty-" he started, though Betty wasn't having any of it.

"No, Jughead! You don't get to do this!" She cried, lip trembling as tears started flooding down her cheeks. "We've been through so much together, and now you want to just throw it all away to keep me safe?! I know how to protect myself!" As she spoke she stepped closer to him, and when seeing he wasn't stepping away, she got close enough to be stood right in front of him as she continued yelling. "You don't want me to join the Serpents? Fine! But you can't just break us up!" She sniffled.

"Betty!" Jughead yelled, the sudden seriousness in his voice making her jump. "I'm not standing over a bodybag that has you in it!"

Betty shook her head again. "You don't know for sure that's going to happen, Jug! I'm safer if I'm with you!" She cried, tears starting to fall faster.

"No you're not! Betty you have no idea how much fucking danger I put you in just by being around you! You don't know how many people would use you to get to me!" Jughead pretty much exploded, his own tears dripping down past his waterline, causing the male to angrily wipe them away with his hand.

"Jughead I can handle it! We've been through so much, you know I can handle it!" Betty pleaded, lip trembling as she did her best to not just burst into tears. "Please, Juggie." Her voice was a low lower than the volume she'd been using before, hands coming up to cup his face again. Only this time he didn't pull them away.

Instead he crashed his lips against hers, his hands finding a place at her hips and using it to hold her against himself as their lips moved in sync. Betty's hands moved into his hair, fingers curling into the raven strands to keep his lips against hers, not willing to pull away. She was afraid of what might happen if they did.

Though all good things must come to an end. Jughead eventually detached his lips from Betty's both of them breathing heavily, though it was more to keep from crying than because of the kiss.

Jughead's blue orbs locked with Betty's green ones, and she knew just by the look on his face that nothing had changed. Tears streamed down her cheeks, lip trembling as she just shook her head, sure that if she spoke she'd just start sobbing.

"Betty," Jughead's voice was thick, a result of him trying not to cry. "Please don't make this harder than it has to be." Tears fell down his face freely now, his eyes full of pain staring into hers.

"It doesn't have to." The blonde whimpered, hands reaching up to grip at the lapels of his leather jacket as she shook her head. "Please, it doesn't have to." She cried, the first of many sobs ripping through her chest painfully.

Jughead didn't say anything at first. He just moved his arms around his crying love, holding her against himself. Betty buried her face in his chest as she sobbed, shoulders shaking as each one left her pink lips. Her fists gripped onto his jacket tightly, not wanting to ever let go.

His arms were tight around her body, lips pressed into her hair as he tried his damnedest not to start sobbing too. His eyes ran with tears which he couldn't help, his throat thickening with each cry that left Betty. Of course he felt absolutely terrible, though he knew that this was the only way that he could keep her safe. And he needed to keep her safe. That mattered more than anything else to Jughead.

Eventually Jughead pulled away from the hug, too, looking down at the crying blonde with remorse. "I love you." He whispered, hands coming up to cup her face. "I love you so much, Betty, which is why I need to do this."

Betty just shook her head, at that moment crying too much to even answer any of his words. She just reached her hands up to grip onto his, holding them tightly and not wanting to let go.

Jughead leaned down to press a lingering kiss to her forehead, thumbs wiping underneath her eyes to rid her of her tears. "I love you." He repeated as a whisper against her skin, before pulling away to look at her. "Now go home."

Somehow he found the strength to let go of Betty, shooting her one last regretful look before turning around and walking back into the bar that they'd both been inside of not even an hour ago.

Betty couldn't say or do anything as she watched Jughead walk away, simply lifting her shaking hands to cover her mouth as she sobbed into them. There was a heavy ache in her chest, like she'd just had her heart ripped out. And she had. Jughead had given her his heart to take care of, and he'd just taken it back, leaving her alone.
