THIRTEEN:
a place to hide
♠️"You've shown that you're more than you make yourself out to be on the outside, so thank you for allowing me to be the person to see it..."

Everything happened so fast. One second, Ellie was trying her hardest to resist Blaze's flirting, and then the next he was shouting for her to get under the table. Screams were heard as the gunfire continued and Ellie shook violently, keeping her arms over her head before the doors to the restaurant slammed open. Ellie could see several pair of legs rushing inside, firing outside at the attackers.
Ellie practically sobbed with relief when Blaze came under the table, cupping her cheeks and inspecting her face. He wiped away the stray tears falling down her cheeks, helping her from under the table so they were kneeling beside it.
"Whatever you do, do not look up and don't look behind you if something happens to me," he whispered, making Ellie immediately shake her head and whimper.
"Blaze, w-what's going on?" She asked him back, her voice coming out choked.
"I'll explain it once I know we're safe," he promised her, rubbing her cheekbones. Ellie flinched as more glass shattered and the sounds of the gunfire from outside got closer.
He kissed the bridge of her nose, then her forehead. "Just... make sure you do what I said and you'll be okay. Meet me in the car and stay on the ground until you know for sure that I'm in there."
Ellie nodded her head quickly, sniffling. Blaze kissed her knuckles before standing up, taking two handguns from his waistband. At that second, Blaze helped Ellie up and gently nudged her towards the door. She went as quickly as possible, making sure her body was crouched as she headed to the car. She could feel a hand gently touch her back and Ellie knew immediately that it was Blaze, practically running to the car as he shot anyone who tried to interfere.
Blaze opened the passenger's door for Ellie and helped her in, slamming the door closed and firing his gun. She slid onto the ground and bit her lip to stop it from wobbling when she heard Blaze shout something in his foreign tongue.
She screamed when the window in her side burst, followed by the driver's door opening. Ellie heard the engine start and the car sped off, the wheeling screeching as they tried to escape the chasers. After a few minutes, the car began to slow down until it came to a complete stop.
"We're safe" was all Blaze had to whisper before Ellie was up, wrapping her arms around his neck tightly. He didn't say a word, moving his seat back so there was more room before pulling Ellie on his lap, one of his arms wrapped around her waist.
"What the heck just happened?" She whispered, her entire body still trembling as Blaze held her close, kissing her temple.
"We were attacked," he said, groaning in pain when Ellie's hand grazed his shoulder. "We need to get to D and Archer to make sure they're okay."
Ellie frowned, inspecting his wounded shoulder before cupping his cheeks. "You need help, Blaze."
"Afterwards, baby," he assured her, kissing her forehead before patting the passenger seat. Ellie sighed and sat next to him, putting her seatbelt on just as he turned out of the parking lot they were in, speeding off.
