EIGHT:
a promise kept

"No, I'm very much sober now. And I'm more than glad that I finally did this..."

"I don't understand why we had to leave the store," Ellie argued, her voice hushed as Blaze dragged both her and his son through the small town. He was true to his word and took her into town with Dimitri, taking her into any store she would stop in front of for even a second.

"You should know why, Elenor," Blaze said roughly, turning sharply. Unlike Ellie, Dimitri was laughing and giggling in the crocodile-style wagon Ellie bought for him to ride in (though it was really Blaze since he had more money of the two). She made sure to include some blankets and tried to buy a stuffed animal for him but—like every other thing bought—Blaze beat her to it.

"I don't," Ellie retorted with pursed lips, "all I asked was why Dimitri would say the word 'cock' when the picture was obviously a male's genitals, not a rooster."

"Please stop talking about this," Blaze said, pulling her down another sidewalk with Dimitri. "Still got your ears plugged, mały?"

Dimitri was silent, looking around cluelessly with his fingers covering his ears after Blaze told him to cover his ears three minutes previously. He looked at Ellie and gave her a toothy grin. Blaze stopped walking and turned around, staring down at Ellie. Her complexion was flushed from walking in the sunlight while wearing a pair of black leggings and a jade green sweatshirt. She looked up at Blaze, her cheeks darkening in red before she cleared her throat and looked away.

After that night, Blaze made sure to be gentler on Ellie. Though he was still the same old Blaze, he tried a bit more harder to be kind to her—it was small but it was a start. For starters, for the last three weeks Ellie has had to wake up around eight in the morning but after Blaze promised to take her into town, before she went to bed he told her to sleep in.

To follow after was breakfast. Usually it was made for her but it was odd this one time because it was Blaze in the kitchen with Dimitri, showing him the step-by-step to cooking eggs and bacon. Ellie had to admit that it was adorable. All she wanted to do was have a great day, possibly buy a new blanket for the collection she started, and come back with a smile on her face. But the only thing replaying in her mind was last night.

Ellie never expected her first kiss to be so intense. She expected it to be gentle and careful, not to have her back against a wall as Blaze struggled to open her bedroom door. His lips bruised hers as he held onto her tiny waist, groaning when she got on her toes, desperate to meet his height though it would never really happen.

Ellie was quick to learn what to do. Blaze—surprisingly—didn't judge when she admitted to never being kissed before, and he gave her simple instructions (most of which he showed rather than spoke, not that Ellie was complaining), and before she knew it Blaze had her pinned to the sofa as she experienced the best first kiss.

Blaze picked her up effortlessly, wrapping her thighs around his waist. Ellie whimpered and he finally opened the door, walking inside while still keeping his lips attached to her.

Every moan and whimper that fell from Ellie's lips did something to affect Blaze—she could feel it. For some odd reason, it only aroused her that she could do that kind of thing to him... to anyone, really.
