He knew what to do.

He checked his watch.

It was half past noon.

He still had eleven and a half hours before his birthday ended.

It was going to be the most memorable one.

He was walking towards the shopping centre.

In all honesty, he had never been there before but there's always a first time, right?

He walked aimlessly, mingling with people till he felt his stomach rumble.

He had passed by a restaurant earlier so he turned back, walking towards its direction.

He walked in, the bell at the door announcing his arrival.

The placevwas Italian themed. It had a homey feeling to it.

Rob always wanted to own a restaurant and he was a pretty good chef.

He always helped his mom prepare supper so he could learn how to be a better cook.

He sat down at a window table, ordered some pasta and let his mind wonder.

He didn't get to do so as his order was brought almost immediately after he had ordered it.

He ate as fast as he could. He had a lot of things to do before midnight.

Finishing up, he paid the bill and left a huge tip.

He was feeling rather generous today.

He walked back to the shopping centre.

He glanced at his watch, it was almost half past one.

He walked into a knife antique store.

Adam was obsessed with collecting antique knives. Eric  never understood why.

He looked around and when he found one he was sure Adam didn't have  he took it and paid for it.

He then went back home.

He headed to his home office.

He kept his most prized possessions in a safe in the room.

He set the knife on his desk and went to his safe.

He punched in the combination and when it opened he took out a small black box.

He set it on his desk, beside the knife he had bought.

He closed the safe, pulled out the chair and sat down.

He opened the box, a wave of nostalgia hitting him once he looked at the contents.

There was a yo-yo that belonged to Rob.

He always played with it when he was stressed out or deep in thought.

There were  pictures of him and Rob when they were six years old, of him and philip when they went to Madagascar three years ago, him and Lauren on their honeymoon in a yartch , him amd Adam at the fair the previous year and one of him, his mother, two sisters and Rob in the park when they were four years old.

He put them all back , including the knife.

He had everything he wanted ready for tonight.

He hoped that after this , Adam  would find it in him to forgive him for being an idiot.

He felt the a pang in his chest when he recalled how he broke Adam's  heart.
