five years later

chapter 1

dipper's point of view

I gasped awake and looked outside,  it was slowly becoming light out,  I groaned and sat up in my bed. I have to admit it still is weird having my own room, our parents insisted Mabel and I  have our own rooms when we started highschool.   I got up and went over to my desk and got out my journal deciding to write in it.

dear journal:
It's been five years since Mabel and I left gravity falls,  we've both finished highschool and im getting ready for college.  Mabel says she doesn't want to go with me,  she wants to see the world.  I miss grunkle stan and ford and all our  friends back in Oregon. now that i think about it,  it has been awhile since ive heard from my great uncles,  maybe ill call soos later and see what is going on.

I shut the journal,  placing back in its usual spot and stepped away from my desk.  I stretched and walked to my closet getting out a plain red shirt and jeans and put them on.  I ran a brush through my brown hair and layed my bangs somewhat flat to cover my birthmark weird big dipper shaped birthmark.  I turned to leave my room,  seeing a fimilar brown fuzzy hat hanging on the back of my door.  I sighed at the memories that hat gave me and walked out of my room to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. I looked into the mirror seeing the dark circles under my eyes. once i finished my morning routine i walked out of the bathroom and down the stairs to the kitchen.

When I got down stairs mom and dad were gone,  of course, they work alot.  Mabel was at the kitchen table eating and talking on the phone,  she never lost contact with Candy and Grenda after all this time.  she smiled when she saw me walk in  "Hey bro bro!   man you look like you haven't slept in days"  I sighed and went to the fridge, grabbing the milk from inside "yeah,  I had that dream again last night"  for the past week and a half ive been dreaming about our final battle with bill,  the evil triangle demon from another demension we destroyed before leaving Gravity falls.

Mabel's face darkened a bit at the mention of my dream,   she gave her friends a quick goodbye before hanging up and walking over to hug me. she opened her arms up "akward sibling hug?"  i chuckled and set the gallon of milk on the counter "akward sibling hug" we met in the middle and patted eachothers backs,  I pulled away from her and smiled softly, she always knows how to cheer me up.

"I was thinking about calling Soos to see how he and Melody and Stan and Ford are"   Mabel giggled excitedly "yes!  we should video chat them instead it's been so long since we've heard from them!"  a snort came from the corner of the room where her pet pig Waddles was eating,  the pig perked up at the mention of our uncles,  he must miss everyone just as much as Mabel and I do.

I turned back around, grabbing a glass from the shelf and opened the gallon of milk filling it most of the way so it wouldnt over flow. I opened the freezer and grabbed some frozen waffles. It's been awhile since ive had waffles. I put two of them into the toaster and grabbed the syrup from the fridge. I turned back to Mabel who was setting up her sticker covered laptop to video call soos and melody.

once the waffles were done i put them on a plate covered them with syrup and grabbed a fork. i pulled up a wooden chair beside mabel as she kept working to open skype. I quickly ate my waffles and finished as Mabel hit the call button. After a few rings Melody's face popped up on the screen. "Dipper, Mabel so nice to see you guys after so long !" Mabel waved to her "hi Melody !!" soos' face popped into the screen at that moment "dudes! it's been like 2 years !!" I smiled "yeah, sorry weve been so busy with school and stuff" the sound of a small child came from the background of Soos and Melody's end and a little boy jumped up into Melody's arms "Mama, Papa i want candy!!"

Mabel gasped as i saw her eyes light up "is that Stanley?!??" the little boy stared at us through the screen "Cusion Mabel cusion Dipdip !!!!" the child giggled happily as Melody took him away from the screen to go get candy. Soos sat in a fimilar looking chair, Grunkle Stans. I smiled at Soos "he's gotten so big, last time we video chatted he was just a little thing" Soos looked at us both smiling "he sure has, so how are you dudes? getting ready for college?" I nodded "well I am, Mabel wants to go off and see the world first, how's the mystery shack?" he grinned proudly "better than ever! we've even been able to expand it so now its much bigger than you remember" I nodded and was about to say something else before my dear sister cut me off "where's Grunkle Stan and Grunkle Ford?"

Soos went quiet and I immediently got a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach "I havent heard from them since they went on their second trip to check out more weird places in the world" Mabel tilted her head to the side questioningly "When was that?" Soos sighed and looked at the two fo us with a straight face "a year and a half ago" My face went slack and my jaw dropped a bit as I stumbled over my words "A..a year and a half??!?" Mabel seemed to be thinking the same thing I was as she spoke right after me "B..but thats not possible. they would have said something right? they couldn't have just dissapeared out of no where right??"

Soos held up a beat up looking radio. "Ford gave me this before they left incase of an emergency, but every time I try to get a signal through, it just come out static, no one has ever answered it" I looked down, so did mabel. as if thinking the same thing we both looked at eachother at the same time and spoke together

"we need to go back to gravity falls."
