MYSTIC FALLS.
The town wasn't as bad as Klaus made it out to be. Klaus said that he used to live there a thousand years ago and hated it. However, on the first impression, Emilia couldn't see why. Emilia liked the charm of the town. Everything in Mystic Falls was close enough to be able to walk to and it reminded her of Chicago. The people all seemed normal but Klaus warned her ahead of time that Mystic Falls was a supernatural magnet.
Currently, Emilia was looking at apartments all around town with one of Klaus's vampire bodyguards, Fred, following her around. She wanted a small place for herself that wasn't too fancy. She wanted to be able to have a refuge in case anything bad happened. While driving to Mystic Falls, Emilia had narrowed down her options. Her two favorites were one in the town square and one that was about 10 minutes from town square but close to her new high school.
After looking at both apartments, Emilia decided to go with the one closer to the school because the other one felt a little too claustrophobic for her liking. Fred went to the realtor about to compel her to give Emilia the apartment for free, but Emilia stopped him. "Stop. I'm going to pay for my apartment."
Fred looked at her confused. "But Mr. Klaus told me to compel you an apartment."
"Well, Klaus also said that you have to listen to everything I say and I say to let me pay for this apartment."
"How are you going to pay for it, Ms. Page?"
"I already told you Fred stop calling me that or I swear you'll regret. Call me Emilia and plus an apartment in Mystic Falls is cheaper than my mother."
Emilia then paid for the apartment herself with the money she had gotten working at the pizza shop. The realtor left leaving Emilia inside and Fred outside of the apartment. "Aren't you going to invite me inside Ms. Page?"
"No. I told you, you would regret it."
Emilia then walks to the Mystic Grill, the only restaurant in town, after telling Fred to stop following her. She walks inside the grill looking to get a job because it seems to be in the center of things. She's about to go up to one of the waiters when she notices two girls talking. Emilia decides not to walk up to the waiter yet but instead sits at the table next to her and listens to their conversation. "So Caroline, will you come to Jenna's barbecue today?"
"I don't know Elena, what about Katherine?" Emilia was now officially interested in what these girls have to say.
"C'mon Caroline you have to come over today! Let's not worry about my evil doppelgänger and let's just be at a normal party!" Emilia connected the dots. Elena is the doppelgänger. She'd have to find a way to be at this party.
"Fine, I'll come!"
"Yay! Can't wait!"
Caroline leaves the table and walks out of the grill leaving Elena alone. Elena stays at the table and opens up a book. Emilia was about to walk over to Elena, but a couple of seconds later, a man walks over to Elena startling her. "What do you want, Damon?"
