GUILT.
Klaus hadn't felt guilt in a long time. After what he said to Emilia, he felt a little guilty.
For Klaus, having a little guilt was monumental to anyone who knew him. Klaus was guilty that he threatened one of the only people who he believed was actually loyal to him. Instead of talking to her about it and hearing her side, he decided to just give her some space.
They wouldn't call anymore and would just text on a weekly basis. Emilia was upset with Klaus but didn't do anything to help Elijah. It's not that she didn't want to but she felt as though recently that she had been being watched. If Emilia was being watched by Klaus and he figured out that she freed Elijah, well, she was scared that Klaus would go through with his threat.
Emilia's instincts were actually spot on. Klaus did send people to watch her. Klaus himself didn't know whether it was to see if she would do something bad or to protect her. Either way, there was always someone watching Emilia in the distance.
Since she was following her gut instinct that she was being watched, she became quiet about any sort of opinion that she had about anything. She didn't voice her inner thoughts out of fear that if she said anything controversial something bad would happen to her. She closed herself off to any sort of help or friendship and instead focused on fixing everyone else's problems whether that be Klaus's or the Save Elena Squad's problems. It was the way Emilia lived but was she really living.
Now, it was the end of April and there were only a couple of days until the SAT. Emilia had been cramming as much information as possible into her head to be ready for that test. She was determined to get a good score so she could go to college. Nonetheless, it was hard to focus on college admissions when you have supernatural drama.
Today would not help her focus because Klaus texted her this morning telling her what he'd do at the dance. Emilia already knew that Alaric was Klaus. Not by the way he acted but because Klaus informed her that he was in Alaric's body. Emilia was kind of weirded out but she wasn't allowed to judge. In Emilia's head, she called him 'Klaric' because he was a weird combination of both.
Luckily for her, history was her fourth period right before her lunch. Alaric wasn't really the teacher and Klaus didn't care what she did. At the beginning of class, Klaric let them all go early because most people in the class were already not there because they were seniors helping with the dance. This gave Emilia a free period to do what she wanted. She saw Elena in the lunch line and walked over to her. "Hey, Elena!"
"Are you going to the decade dance tonight?"
"There's a dance? How did I not remember that! What's the decade?"
"The '60s."
Emilia scoffs, clearly not liking the idea. "Well, that's great."
"Wait why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be in Alaric's right now?"
