Chapter 8: Feelings

Justin's POV:

I open the door for Connor and Valerie and guide them to the living room, where Melissa is relaxing.

They both take a seat and I do the same next to Melissa.

"Okay, so I have good news...," I begin.

Connor raises his eyebrow.

"Melissa's pregnant," I reveal.

Connor jumps up and gives me a handshake, while Valerie attacks Melissa with a hug.

I stand up.

"I'm so happy for you guys!," Valerie squeals.

"Congrats man. But, how is this gonna work with the whole gang life?"

I pat Connor's shoulder.

"That's what I wanted to talk about. I need you to take back the position as leader. I'm leaving the gang life for the sake of our child."

He raises his eyebrow and scoffs before letting out a chuckle, making me confused.

"Connor, what the hell?," Valerie angrily burst out.

"Are you fuckin' kidding me?," he rasps.

"What?," I ask.

"Justin, you know the gang life doesn't work like that."

"What the hell are you fuckin' talking about?"

"Once in the gang life, always in the gang life."

"Well, too fuckin' bad. Do you know how difficult it'd be to have a baby while in a gang?"

"Well, you should've thought about that when you were fucking. It's not that hard to use a damn condom."

I see Melissa get up from the corner of my eye and I turn to see her walk out the room.

"Fuckin' bullshit," I hear her mumble.

"Connor, that was a dick move," Valerie tells him.

He shrugs his shoulders.

"Well, someone needed to open their eyes," he says under his breath.

"C'mon man. There's so much to life than the gang. I wanna start my life. I'm not letting anyone step in the way of it. Piss me off all you want man. I don't have time to worry about irrelevant people."

I walk out the room, but stop when I hear his voice.

"Is everyone irrelevant to you?!"

I turn to face him, my muscles tensing.

"No. Only people who piss me the fuck off are."

"Justin, you treat everyone like shit!," he snaps.

"No I fuckin' don't. And watch your motherfuckin' tone before I slit your God damn throat," I warn.

"What about Aaron?! Huh?! You think you treated him fairly?!"

I feel my blood boil as I replay his words in my head.

This motherfucker...

"Why the fuck would I treat him fairly?! He killed my mother you stupid fuck!"

"Get over it man! He helped our gang a lot and you can't fuckin' admit it because you hate him!"

"I will never get over it! Yes, he did help us! But, at the end of the damn day, my mother is no longer here with me! And it was because of him!"

I turn back and walk out the room, finding Melissa.
