So I might have under played my lack of girlie qualities a bit.
Not only do I not know how to do anything but basic make up, and like three hair styles with my ass length hair, but the list goes on. I don't own high heals, or dresses or skirts. Shopping isn't one of my ideas of fun, and until recently I only had one female friend who acted more like a guy then half the men I know.
And yet, here we are in the big SUV, because 'it has the best cargo space', on the way to Lutonville. Apparently they have the biggest malls.
Someone please shoot me now.
Claire and Sara are beyond excited and have been nattering on for the last forty-five minutes as to which stores to hit first. Apparently the sky's the limit and the list of essentials for the conference is so long.
"Stop looking like it's a death sentence," Sara cuts in. "Lutonville has the best stores, there's bound to be something you like."
"This may surprise you but shopping isn't one of my strong suits," I grumble.
"Why do you think I'm here?" She questions.
"Honestly I assumed punishment for something, but I really thought I've behaved recently?" I replied, not missing a step. Claire burst out laughing while Sara just glared at me.
"You walked into that," Claire teased.
Before long we were parked and making our way in. The mall was huge, far larger then our local one. At lease two stories but the far half apparently was three stories high. And like all malls there were just so many people.
"This was a mistake," I mumble freezing in the bustling crowd of people. The familiar tightening in my chest set in as my anxiety rose.
"Jess?" Claire called softly taking in my state. "We can go over there to start? It's less crowded." She grabbed my hand and led me into a large clothing store. Thankfully it wasn't very busy and my chest started to relax.
"So what are we looking for again?" I mumble wandering between the clothing racks.
"Pretty much everything," Sara replied with a shrug. "You're the Luna of Still Water, you need to dress the part."
"So don't dress like myself?" I ask confused.
"There's nothing wrong with how you dress, just want to get you some new clothes, best foot forward. Your style is fine. Though you'll need some more formal wear too, for any meetings, dinners and of course the ball." Claire's energy is overwhelming, I feel like her Christmas present.
"What about this?" Sara asks as she fights to pull a shirt free. I groan in anticipation, but am surprised when she holds up a stylish black top with an elegant silver design. It looks like the type of thing you could wear anywhere.
"I promise no frills and no pink," Sara says sincerely. I relax a bit at that.
I really could use some new jeans, I'm down to my last 2 pairs so head over to the jeans. Being thick, the curve and boot cut jeans are my safest bet but sometimes the skinny jeans look good. So I grab like nine random pairs and head to the change room.
"We need to see, so make sure you come out, also here," Claire says firing a wad of shirts over. Oh god this is going to be a long day.
Of the first nine pairs of jeans only three are fine. I picked up a bright red top with cut outs. "Really guys? Red?" I complain.
"Just try it on, I want to see what you're working with," Sara calls. Why am I not surprised she picked it. I pull it on and it's a hard no. Form fitting and revealing, definitely something she would own.
