Shouta honestly has no idea how any of this happened.
One day he's getting asked by the police if he can can help them capture a vigilante named Fuyōna, and then a few months later he's snuggling up with said vigilante with his best friend, boyfriend and four cats on his couch watching a movie.
When he first got the case he had almost laughed. Were the police really having so much trouble with one vigilante? Surly they just weren't trying hard enough.
He almost didn't believe Naomasa when he told him that even he may have trouble catching the vigilante.
Almost.
The only reason he didn't laugh, and did believe them, was because he knows that underestimating someone is a sure way to get yourself killed.
Anyone that has worked on the field for any real amount of time knows that. How they found out is the only thing that's different.
That being said, he can't say he wasn't surprised when he first ran into Fuyōna, now known as Izuku, on the rooftop.
When he first realised that it may have been a kid under that mask, he almost lost his mind then and there.
So imagine his surprise when the very next day, he finds his new little vigilante kid being shot into the air because of a certain piece of flaming shit?
To say that Shouta wanted to murder the flaming hero would be an understatement. However, he knew in that moment that helping the vigilante he had oddly grown attached to was the most important thing.
And when Shouta found out that it wasn't just a kid, but a kid that's the age of his first years behind the mask?
Might as well just have killed him then and there.
But, nope! The universe had other plans!
Not to say that Shouta isn't happy that it did.
As fate would have it, he basically became a babysitter along with his two comrades!
Don't ask how that one happened because honestly that night was just a whole bunch of shit that blended together into one big 'fuck you!'!
You wanna add even more to the mess that Shouta has gotten himself dragged into?
No?
To bad because it happened anyway!
Apparently, Shouta can't just pick a kid that doesn't fit the title of 'Problem Child'! That would be insane!
Instead, he picked up a kid that is a literal genius who built his entire suit from scratch out of scraps from a dump, knows most people's basic files off the top of his head, and is quirkless meaning that he technically isn't even classified as a vigilante, so even if he was trying to bring him into police custody there would be no point!
The cherry on top?
What he thought was the first time meeting him wasn't actually the first time meeting him. Because, apparently, this is also the same kid that he saved after he launched himself off of a building three years ago!
And if that wasn't enough, Shouta is 95% sure that Izuku doesn't feel, and isn't, safe at home.
Why? Because the amount of red flags he got in a single day are far to worrisome to be normal.
And then the kid tries to say that the reason he isn't home is because his mother is 'working'?
Yeah, fuck that.
