Chapter 34

Krish bit into his sandwich and sipped his cold coffee. Radhika was sitting across him and she was snacking on a french fry as she looked at him intrigued because he wasn't saying anything.

"How do we explain this to our parents?" asked Radhika.

"I don't know. My brothers promised that they would take care of it but I'm concerned about how they'd handle it."

"My mom has been calling me ever since Shivaay dropped the bomb on both of our mothers," said Radhika.

Krish took another bite of his sandwich. "Can't believe I'm getting married," he mumbled.

"Nervous?" teased Radhika.

"You wish," he said smirking as he dusted the crumbs off of his pants.

Radhika came and sat next to him and she rested her head on his shoulder. Krish wrapped an arm around her.

"I'm sure Shanaya and my brothers figured it out," Krish remarked

"Yeah.."

"YOU DECIDE TO CALL THE WEDDING OFF NOW!" yelled Neelima at Shivaay.

Shravan covered his ears and was hiding behind Shanaya. Akaash was hiding in his bedroom so he didn't have to face the wrath of his mother and Nivedita had already left and gone home.

"Mom please.."

"I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING. WHERE IS KRISH?" Neelima said, yelling.

Nisha was sitting on the couch and she got up and grabbed the phone to call Krish when Krish walked inside the room.

Krish walked inside the room with his hand in Radhika's. She looked at the floor the entire time and Nisha looked at Krish and smiled.

A twinge of guilt hit both Krish and Radhika. Krish looked at Nisha, patted her shoulder and Radhika shook her head in remorse as she wished that things would have worked for Nisha.

Neelima walked up to Krish and she dangerously spoke in a low tone. "What is this nonsense Krish?" she said motioning to both of them. "Please tell me that this is just another one of your silly pranks."

Ashok walked over next to Neelima and stood there for some time.

"Mom, me and Radhika love each other. We want to get married."

"NO.," said Neelima. "I refuse to get you married to Supriya Arora's daughter."

"Mom why? If you can arrange Shivaay and Radhika up, then why not me?"

"Just because."

"Mom you have to give a reason."

"Because Shivaay has always been.. unfocused. You have always been on the right track, always acing in school and bagging cases when it comes to being a lawyer. If you got Radhika as your wife, then I felt you would just become distracted."

Krish kept silent. "Mom. I'm sorry but I love Radhika and we've taken a long time to accept our feelings. You have to promise me that you will accept her."

Neelima looked at Radhika and then looked back at Krish. "I can't make any promises Krish. But I'll try," she said huffing. Neelima walked out of the room with Ashok by her side.

Krish turned to Nisha who had happy tears in her eyes.

"You should have told me earlier, Krish. I always knew something was up because of your behavior at work," said Nisha.

"When did you.. you know... start having feelings for me?" he asked hesitantly.

"Krish I've loved you since childhood," she said as she got it off of her chest.

Krish looked at her shocked and he took a step back. "I didn't know," he said whispering under his breath.

"You see. That's why when I found out about both of you, I just felt bad! My intention was never to separate both of you or to come in between you and Radhika. But I just kept getting the wrong signs when you kept sticking up for me during work when Radhika used to scold me."

"I was only doing that.."

"Because you thought of me as a friend," said Nisha smiling sadly at Krish. She inhaled a big breath and looked at him. "It is my fault. I took the wrong signs. It was just a foolish thing to think."

"Can we still be friends?" asked Krish.

Nisha kept mum for a couple of seconds and then looked up at his face.

"We can but don't expect me to be warm all the time. I need time," she said and walked out of the room, leaving the Malhotra house.

"Show me the ring," said Shanaya excitedly as she grabbed Radhika's hand.

"I can't believe it," said Nivedita with tears in her eyes. "I never thought it would happen."

"What can we say? He's our brother. Krish changes people," said Akaash proudly with Shravan standing next to Shanaya and hugging her.

"She's our best friend," said Nivedita retorting playfully.

"You are going to be my sister in law." shrieked Shanaya, jumping up and down like a kid.

Nivedita hugged both her friends and she kissed Radhika's cheek. "So happy for you Rads."

"Where is Shivaay?" asked Shravan.

"He left. Shivaay went to Nisha's house to comfort her. Those two were always close as well." said Krish who had walked in the room.

"I feel bad," said Shanaya. "I knew she always had a thing for Krish but I never pushed her or asked her to confirm."

"What happened could have been avoided but what is about to happen is bound to happen," said Akaash.

"You both are getting married." yelled everyone.

Radhika and Krish blushed and looked at each other as everyone around them partied.
