"Are you excited to see your mother again, Adrien?" he asked, breaking the silence that enveloped them.

"I just lost her," he said with voice hoarse from crying, never taking his eyes off of Nathalie as Marinette held his hand tight.

   "What do you—"

"You, of all people, know what I mean," he said, the life seeping out of his voice.

Gabriel sighed. From time to time he would look at Nathalie from the mirror, with the unfamiliar smile that he never saw playing on her lips when she was still... with them. He wondered what a candid smile would look like on her face. A rare occasion like that could brighten a man's day. He realized later that whenever he would see this smile, he would be reminded of her tragedy.

He was against her using the miraculous even though it was fixed lest she'd end up like Emilie. But unbeknownst to him was that his wish took her away in the same state as well. She was dead in the end and Gabriel found himself cursing at himself.

To get his mind off of this situation, he chose to remember Emilie's green eyes. But every single time, a wash of blue would fill his daydreams. Nathalie's eyes would replace Emilie's and he desperately tried to fight the urge to cry. Coerced his mind not to degrade himself. And fought the urge to regret his decision.

There are a lot of Nathalies in this world.

But there was only one who stuck by your side, even sacrificing her own life wasn't an issue to her.

I can manage to get a new assistant.

Can you really bring yourself to do that?

   I am Gabriel Agreste.

   Are you kidding yourself?

And I love my wife, Emilie.

For a person possessing abilities of an empath, you sure are foreign to your own feelings.

He begged this strong emotion he possessed to stop. He wasn't able to distinguish what kind of emotion it was— nagging him at his faults.

   Was it pain? Yes.

   Despair? Yes.

Fear? Guilt? Grief? Yes multiplied by three.

He tried to decipher them layer by layer but something much stronger kept wanting to make itself known to him— wanting to acquaint itself with Gabriel's obliviousness. It nagged at him extremely and his eyes widened at what he had found amidst himself. But...

   Why was he heartbroken?

Before he could figure it out, they already arrived at the mansion. Gates opened and the car drove through the front of the house. Everyone was exiting the vehicle and Gabriel went out quickly, opening the door where Nathalie was sitting behind from before Gorilla could stop him.

What stood in front of the doors made everyone stop in their tracks. The familiar blonde hair and green eyes— the person itself, stood there awaiting them, impatiently tapping her foot.

"Took you long enough," she groaned, stretching her muscles.

Marinette knew who she was from the pictures that scattered around the mansion. Adrien really did take after his mother's exterior quality.

"Mom?" He called out, eyes widening despite knowing about her arrival.

   Revival rather.
