~Dayana's POV~
Walking inside my room, I stepped in and turned around. Sighing deciding to take the chance even though the chances where none, I still asked him "Do you think I could.. maybe go see one of the girls?"
He hesitated, but I could see it in his eyes, fear, and I knew what was the cause of such fear. He ended up shaking his head, just like I had predicted. "I'm sorry, miss, but I can't do that. By letting you out or anyone in for that matter. I would be jeopardizing my life. If it were in other circumstances I would have, but I can't, I am truly sorry."
Nodding my head knowing he'd be answering the way he did. I gave him a warm smile and spoke "Alright. Thanks though."
Taking a seat on the edge of the bed I saw James walk his way towards the door but before he could completely vanish he muttered another apology.
Hearing the faint click of the lock, I groaned. A lock was preventing me from my escape, my freedom, and instead of so I was to be enclosed by the walls of the room. All this was wrong.
What he was doing to all of us was utterly wrong, but just like the rest of the men in this society, he didn't care. If it fulfill his needs he would keep bring/capturing girls and isolating them from the world itself.
He was only worried for his need, I surely knew that. That's what my brother had told me and made me promise him I wouldn't let my guard down. I vowed I would not let him get to me.
"Danna?" He spoke, wanting the attention of his little sister who was currently sitting in their couch reading a book called 'The Infected'.
"Hmmm". She hummed to busy engaged reading, how human beings got infected by a disease, which made them dysfunctional to the world. In order for Amanda(the main character of the book) to survive she had to kill them. Or else she was going to be infected herself.
Seeing as his sister wasn't paying any attention. He walked up to her and ripped the book out of her grasp. Dayana shocked looked up to see who the intruder was that had find it in them to interrupt her from reading the beauty of her book.
"What the-Blake!" She yelled angry that her brother had interrupted her reading. He out of all people knew well enough she doesn't like to be bothered while reading. Blake rolling his eyes unaffected by her glaring eyes. He held the book up in the air while Dayana was attempting to grab it from his hands. But of course her brother having the advantage of being taller only held it higher.
"Dammit, Blake! Give it back! Why'd you take it in the first place, you know I don't like being bothered!" She grunted annoyed at Blake for taking her time away from being engrossed in such an intense book.
"You weren't paying attention to me. Dammit Danna! I've been calling you for the past 10 fucking minutes!" Blake spoke voice louder then he intended.
Dayana sensing the anger radiating from him stepped back and didn't utter another word. She knew that when he would alter his language it was something serious or he was to worked up with frustration.
Taking deep breathes Blake pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. Opening his eyes he looked down at his younger sister. He didn't like talking to his little sister like that but, he got worked up really easy. A gene he had inherited by his father.
Once calmed he extended his arm were his hand was grasping the book handing it back to his sister. Dayana who had stood back walked cautiously towards him and took the book from his grasp.
"I'm not gonna hit you Danna, you know I wouldn't, ever. I'm sorry, it's just-" not being able to finish his sentence he ran his fingers through his hair in frustration and slid them down his face.
"I know you wouldn't, Blake." Dayana spoke in what she thought was a voice filled with confidence but it merely came out as a croak. Coughing to clear her voice she tried a again. "What's wrong, Blake?"
She had been wondering why her brother had interrupted her from reading. She knew he wouldn't just have interrupted her if it wasn't something important. Sighing Blake took a seat on the couch and patted it gesturing for Dayana to come and sit besides him.
Obliging with his gesture, she walked towards him and sat down looking straight ahead at the frame wall. The wall consisted of pictures of their family. Blake, her and her..parents. Her parents.
She missed them dearly, they had left them when Blake was 10 and she was 7. At that time she didn't know why they had left them when they themselves were merely kids. But as she grew up Blake decided not to keep the truth away from her, she had the right to know.
He explained to her everything. She then knew what had happened and it pained her that she couldn't have done anything to stop it. Shaking her head trying to get rid of the memories she turned and faced Blake who was looking at her intently.
"I-I want to let you know that if someday they come for us. Even though they'll have to go through me but I'm..I'm scared that I won't be here to protect you, one day. I want you to know that they aren't doing this to help us. No those people are doing this for their own good. They don't care what our feelings are. If this helps them with their desires then they'll do whatever it takes to do it. I don't want you to let your guard down, no, actually I want you to fight. Fight them off. If they try anything.. Gah I can't believe I'm telling you this. I want you to kill them. They're doing this to please themselves. Not us. Them. Please promise me you'll take care of yourself at all costs. That you won't let your guard down. Please." Blake told her, anger, frustration, fear, and many more emotions swirling with every word he spoke.
He wanted her to protect herself from the harsh world they were living in. He couldn't sugar coat it, no it didn't work like that. She had to face the true harsh events the world held for all of them. He stood silently, looking at her, wanting to hear her promise him that she's would take care of herself.
"I promise." She said. A sigh escaping Blake's parted lips. She had known that every word that he had told her were true. She was going to stick to her word, she would make him happy.
If that's what he wanted and felt like she should do. She would. No taking steps back. She'd do this for him, for her parents, but more importantly for herself.
That's what I was going to do. I wasn't going to let my guard down. No I'm going to take cautious looks around everybody's else's moves.
If it meant keeping me safe, I'll do it. If it meant doing things I wasn't fond of doing than I'd do it. I wasn't someone who didn't keep her promises. No I kept them till the end. I promised my brother.
And I promised myself.
