Chapter 6

"Sage did you do the English homework?" Mabe greeted me as I went to our spot.

"Yeah." I said and took out my cigarettes.

"Can I see them? I'm so worried because I didn't take Literature last year." She said in a concerned voice.

"It's not that hard babe." I said and took out my paper and gave it to her. I yawned and took a drag of my cigarette. I contemplated if I should tell Mable about Ace.

"Mabe, I have something to tell you." I said and she looked up from the paper.

"Yeah?" She said.

"I uh..It's about Ace. Um..he requested to follow me." I said worriedly. Mabe looked stunned.

"He didn't request to follow me." She said in a sad voice. God, I wish I never told her and just declined his request. Ugh.

"Babe I'm sorry. I mean it's not even my fault! I didn't.." Mable cut through my outrage and said "Accept him."

"Wait, what?" I said.

"Yeah! Well he can see my instagram in your page and maybe he'll give me a follow request too." She said.

"Well...I don't really like him." I said.

"Please just do it!" She said.

"Alright." I threw my cigarette away and took out my phone. My hands were shaking nervously as I pressed the accept button and took a deep breath. This is going to turn to shit and I already feel it deep inside my bones.

The day went by and me and Mable went to our classes. I really love English and Literature because I am obsessed with books. As Hermione once said "I love to hang out with my people and read books in hardly that order". Although Dark Romance was my favorite genre, I really enjoyed fantasy, philosophy and psychology. During my whole life, I was raising myself and trying to properly educate myself because I believed that my parent's beliefs and morals are old and traditional. I decided to erase judgement from my perspective and try to use my empathy in order to understand people, which has worked pretty well.

"EARTH TO SAGE." Mable and Sadie said at the same time and I realized that I was zoning out again.

"Sorry!!" I said.

"So Sage, whatcha doing today?" Sadie asked.

"Nothing. I have German class today so I have to start practicing before going to class." I said and went to take out my German books.

"Mabe what about you?" Sadie asked Mable.

"I'm gonna go home and hug the shit out my dog." She cooed and put her hands on her heart.

As I started working on my homework, Sadie said bye and went home. After a while I took my phone and checked my messages. My heart dropped when I saw that Ace has replied to my story. I replied and we started talking. I swear my stomach was having stupid fluttering butterflies but I tried to shut them out because Ace was Mable's crush. After a while we started our same pattern of fight-flirting. He was flirting and I was fighting using my only weapon: WITT AND SASS. I looked at the time and realized it was 10:30 am.

SAGE: Why are you awake so soon?

ACE: My dog woke me up.

SAGE: Lmao you should've handled yourself first before getting a dog

ACE: Hahahaha you're so funny

SAGE: Yea I got it from you

I smiled as we started to send eachother middle finger gifs.

"Sage, why are you grinning?" Mable asked me as she sat next to me and looked at my phone.

"I uh..."

"ACE IS TEXING YOU!!!!" Mable screamed and took my phone. During the whole day we tried putting stories of Mable so Ace would follow her but he didn't. "I'll send him a video maybe he'll decide to follow me" Mable said and started taking videos of us. I was studying and snickering in most of them. I settled for a resting bitch face because I didn't want Ace to pay me any attention.

"Sage." Mable said and looked at me with a panic. "I think he likes you." She said. My heart skipped a beat. No. This can't be true.
