"Mabe whose bag is this?" I asked as I walked towards her after my annoying smoke break.
"I have no clue. It was there before we got here." She said.
"Okay." I felt anxious for a second because I didn't know who was going to sit right next to me. I took four deep breaths and tried getting back to my studies. Now that I know Ace is not here after looking at the other side of the library, I could easily focus on what I was reading. Not that physics is generally easy to focus on. I finished studying a chapter after finishing three cups of coffee and my mind was already fried. I decided to buy another coffee since I needed to go over a review of what I learned in the chapter.
The vending machine had a lot of options but who am I to let go of a warm latte. I saw Asher through the glass and panicked. He was not supposed to be here! I made sure that Ace and Asher were not in the library. Fuck. I took out my coffee and walked away as fast as I could. When I got to my table, I almost gave a middle finger to the universe for being so cruel to me. Sitting there in the chair right next to me was none other than Antonio. Now that I actually think about it, he is quite good looking. His dark hair is cut short but there are still signs of the curly mass that it can turn to. Just like Dawn's. His eyes are a brown so deep that it can almost be mistaken with black and five o'clock shadow adds to the whole mesmerizing look. The problem is his personality which sucks arse. I snapped out of my head and took my seat, trying not to seem anxious or on edge. Mable looked at me questioningly and I smiled at her to justify that I was okay. My phone buzzed and I picked it up.
ACE: Hey.
I contained a smile and replied.
SAGE: Hey.
ACE: Why don't you ever text me?
I chuckled and felt butterflies flutter their wings in my stomach.
SAGE: You can text me whenever you want to talk.
ACE: Don't you want to talk to me?
SAGE: Um...sure.
ACE: Brat.
I didn't reply and waited for him to say something again but after a while of him going on typing mode back and forth, nothing came up. I shook my head and started working on my review again. I looked at Antonio and caught him staring at me but he instantly looked at his laptop. I took a sip from my coffee and tried to steal another glance at him but he was already indirectly looking at me. When he caught me looking, he smirked and I felt myself blush. I probably look like a tomato right now. He saw my face and smiled as if he was contempt. I tried to put my coffee cup on the table before I embarrass myself with splashing it all over me only to be embarrassed by the whole cup being thrown over my physics material.
"Fuck." I said and panicked.
"Do you need tissues?" Antonio said and looked at me with a knowing smile.
"Hell no." I said and asked me Mable for tissues. After drying out my books and material, I asked Mable to go for a smoke break so we went out. My phone started ringing. It was mother.
"Hello?" I said with a panick.
"Come home. It's way past your curfew." She said angrily.
"But mother it's only 8 pm." I said desperately.
"Which is way past your curfew. You should've been here by 6. Don't bother coming home if you're not going to be here by 8:30." She said and hung up. I tried to take calming breaths and not to cry because of the way she suppressed my freedom. My nose started running.
"Sage what's wrong?" Mable asked me as she put her hand on my shoulder. "What did she say?" She asked.
"Nothing. I have to go home." I said and sniffled.
"What? It's only 8 pm." She said.
"I know." I said and a tear dropped from my eye.
"Oh Sage. Come here." Mable hugged me. "For what it's worth, you will graduate and get accepted into a good university and move away from this sick person." She said.
"I hope so." I said and ate up all my feelings. I felt the new bag of ate up emotions drop on a thousands of them in my wounded heart. Someday, those bags will explode.
