"SAGE! Wake up!" I felt Mable poking me and I woke up with a jolt.
"Yes? Yes? What?" I said.
"An unknown number has been calling you. It's their third time!" Mable exclaimed. I looked at the clock and it read 9 pm. Oh shit! Ace will be here in 30 minutes and I'm a mess. I touched my hair and felt a bird's nest minus the eggs.
"I forgot about Ace!" I said and Mable gave me my ringing phone.
"Hello?" I spoke to the phone.
"Why aren't you answering your phone?" I heard Ace's voice behind the phone.
"I was sleeping! Plus how'd you get my number?" I asked.
"I told you, I have my resources." He said in a serious tone.
"Whatever." I said.
"Be ready in 30 minutes or you'll face the already mentioned consequences." He said with a chuckle and hung up.
"UGHHHHHH." I said and smacked my head. Habit.
"What's wrong?" Mable asked.
"I have to get ready for this stupid hang out. Ugh." I said and threw myself on the couch again.
"Get up! Come on! We'll have to get you ready." Mable said and stood up.
"FIIIIIIINE." I said and willed my body to separate itself from the warm and oh so cozy couch. I went to my room and brushed my hair. I put on some make up and decided to apply my dark brown lipstick which fit me so well. My mother never let me apply it because she claimed that it would make me look like a slut. I put on my light blue jeans and a black tshirt which had a grungy art on it. I took my small black backpack and filled it with money and my other essential stuff. Mable helped me apply my eyeliner and we talked for a bit about how this hang out might turn out.
"I think you'll have fun." Mable said with a smile.
"I don't think so." I said. As I was tying my black converse and getting my keys to leave the house with Mable, my phone rang.
"Hello?" I said.
"You're late." Ace's curt answer came from behind the phone. I looked at the clock and it read 9:31 pm.
"Hello Mr. Grumpy! Don't you have manners?" I said with a grin since I was actually enjoying the disobedience because excuse me but no one can order me around!
"I'm waiting." He said and hung up. Mable said bye to me and left to go home and I went towards the supermarket.
"What're you doing?"
"What the fuck? JESUS." I screamed and looked to see that it was Ace in a red hoodie and some dark jeans. "You scared the shit out of me Ace!" I exclaimed and hit his shoulder.
"You deserved it for the 5 minute delay you had." He said and smirked.
"Asshole." I said under my breath.
"What'd you say?" He asked and instantly lost his smirk.
"I said ASSHOLE!" I emphasized on the asshole because I wanted him to know that I'm not scared.
"Repeat that and you'll see what happens." He said so seriously and his eyes became so dark that I could see an abyss in them so I decided to stay quiet like a good puppy because I don't know him very well and he might turn out to be Hannibal Lecter. I nodded and we started walking towards the metro station.
"I decided for us to take the metro station because it's easier than driving a car around." He said but I already felt that he was hiding something because of the way that he was wearing a baseball hat.
"So Ace, where do you live?" I asked in order to break some ice.
"Here and there." He looked at me with his cold stare and I felt my mouth go dry.
"O-okay." I said and tried to lick my dry lips. Come on Sage! Pull it together you're not weak or scared! "Do you live with your parents?" I asked and tried to stop my voice from shaking.
"No." He said.
"What do they do for a living?" I asked.
"My dad's in the dealing business." He said.
"What kind of a dealing business?" I asked curiously.
"The 'none of your business' dealing business." He said.
"Whatever." I said and we went to sit on the seats in the metro.
