EIGHT
"THE BSA"

-

"So basically, some seventh grader gave me a flyer for a club or something where they babysit, so Im gonna start a babysitting business. Theyre getting a ton of money, so how hard can it be? I'm older so the adults are totally gonna want to hire us instead of them"

Isabelle started to zone out as her lab partner, Lacey Lewis, droned on about how she was starting her own babysitting business.

"so, are you in?" Lacey looked at Isabelle, waiting for an answer.

Isabelle gave Lacey a smile, "listen, you do what you want, but the leader of the BSC is Sam's sister and my friend, so I'll pass. Anyway, what do you know about babysitting? You hate kids"

Lacey shrugged, "oh well, the offer is still up if you change your mind. And I don't need to know much. Just let them do whatever and they're gonna be happy."

"Thats not how it works, Lacey" Isabelle sighed, "and the club has worked hard for the past two months, it would just be straight up mean to ruin everything."

"Hey well guess what?"

Isabelle sighed, "what?"

"I couldn't care less if I upset some stupid seventh graders, I just want to get money"

"You're unbelievable" Isabelle sighed and turned away from Lacey, writing down the last few sentences of her work and closing the notebook as the bell rung.

"Hey dummy, do we have any soda?"

Sam and Isabelle stood in the doorway to Kristy's room. Kristy was standing on her bed and had just finished a dramatic speech, and the other girls were looking up at her, confused, and Sam had his guitar slung over his shoulder.

Kristy rolled her eyes as she turned to them, "I don't know, check the fridge. I'm not your butler"

"Hey, check this out" Sam said, starting to play some notes on the guitar.

"Thats pretty good" Isabelle smiled.

"Hi"

Both Sam and Isabelle looked over to one of Kristy's friends, who was sitting in the corner of the room.

"Hey" they both said at the same time.

"Sam, Belle, this is my friend Stacey. Stacey, this is my brother Sam and our friend Belle"

"Where have you been keeping him?" Stacey muttered, not particularly talking to anyone.

Isabelle snorted with laughter while Kristy gave Stacey an odd look, "high school?"

Stacey turned to the other girls, "did I say that out loud?"

They nodded.

Sam and Isabelle started to leave when Stacey stopped them, "Well, if you go to Stoneybrook High, you must know some of the agency girls. What can you tell us about Lacey Lewis and Michelle Pattison?"

Sam sighed, "Um... they started that babysitting business, right? In a group? They make a buttload of money. It's a pretty impressive idea, actually."

Kristy hit Sam on the shoulder, "That is our club you idiot! They copied us, we are the ones that babysit in a group."

"That's what your club is? I thought you sat around and talked about babies you know."

Isabelle kicked Sam in the shin, "not funny"

"Ow, that hurt!"

Isabelle shrugged, "sorry, but you're not being any help to them." she turned to the girls, "Lacey told me about some plan to start a babysitting business. She was trying to get me to join"

"Okay well.. thank you for saying Belle"

Isabelle smiled at Kristy, "of course." she turned to Sam, "come on, lets just go down to the store to get some soda"
