Detective robles and I arrived at my house, when we got in everywhere was rowded with guests.
I walked towards Charissa, a cousin of mine who had come down to LA for the wedding.
"please where is my mom" I asked in a heist
"where have you been she's been looking for you" she puts on a fake smile not to giveaway the fact that she was worried
"where is she?? "
"she's in her room" she said
"where... " she was about to talk when I rushed to my mom's room alongside detective robles.
We had arrived at her room, I opened the door without knocking or giving any signals.
"Allie where have you been?, I have been searching for you" she spoke worriedly.
Detective Robles slams the door so the three of us could get some privacy.
"officer why are you here? " she said giving him an unpleasant look
"I know you're never happy to see me, but they're some things you need to clarify"
"if it's concerning the case, then there is nothing to clarify, I told you all I know"
"Really?, ma'am can you be honest with me and tell me when last you and Brenda saw"
"I can't remember the exact day or month, but the last day I saw her was the last day she came to this house"
"And was that before or after Joel's death "
"Before"
"Are you sure?"
"yes!!, today is her wedding, can you please not do this " my mom insisted
"Your daughter agreed to this so you shouldn't complain. Ma'am if I should let you know, we found some fingerprint on Brenda's phone and yours was a match"
"how's that possible?" she said as she scratched her neck with her index finger
"You tell me that"
"Are you trying to accuse me of something officer? " she asked.
"well maybe or maybe not"
"please can you just come another day " she dictated
"no your daughter agreed to this" he said patiently
"mom can you please tell him all you know" I pleaded with her
"darling I know nothing" she insisted
"mom stop lying!!, stop please stop" I pleaded out to her in frustration
"okay fine I'll talk, but I need to talk to him alone" she said calmly
"Okay, I'll leave then" I walked out of the room leaving them inside.
"so ma'am it's just me and you, tell me what you know" detective robles said
He pulls out a pen and mini notebook as he takes a chair from my mom's vanity and sits on it, my mom sat at the edge of her bed, crossing both her legs and arms
"Okay" she said as tears gathered round her eyes
"Brenda killed Joel... She killed Joel because someone sent her to do it"
"who?? " detective robles asked anxiously
"My daughter" she said calmly as she crossed her legs rubbing her two palms together, crying silently
"So after Brenda killed Joel what happened"
"well my daughter, which is Allie asked me to send some cash to Brenda, $10000, then I didn't know what they had done...at first I didn't want to send the cash but Allie said it was important"
"okay, continue "
"After a while Allie started asking for more money, she started acting strange, I swear that girl has gone crazy, I became worried about her, I started suspecting her, until one day she confided in me, she said I shouldn't tell nobody, what could I have done she's my child I had to hide her crime" she said as the tone of her cry increased, she placed her two hands on her forehead, with her head bent down and both of her elbow resting on her Laps
"so who killed Brenda, was it you? "
"No!!, it was Allie, she only gave me the cellphone to keep for her"
"is that all you know"
"yes, at a point I had to send some text messages through Brenda's phone to Allie and other people to make them believe she was alive, at a point she even came to the police station showing you some text. That is why my fingerprint got in there. I don't know if you can remember but I'm sure when you got Brenda's phone you must have seen a conversation between both of them"
"yes I did?"
"I sent those messages, I was looking for a way for the phone to get into you people's hands so you could read the text and know that she was meant to be a suspect, but she fooled you all, the same way she fooled joel"
"Tell me how she fooled Joel"
"well she tried, she made the innocent young man fall in love with her, her only plan was to steal the little he had and get his life insurance money, but when she found out that he didn't have any life insurance and he had almost nothing to his name, she got angry, she felt insulted all this didn't make any sense to me"
"I thought they were childhood friends "
"They were, but people change, she grew up and stopped being the sweet little girl we all knew, i feel like I've failed as a mom" she gripped her head tight as she grieved in pain
"do you have any idea when she killed her"
"I don't know, but she was out of town for a day, but I don't know the exact day"
"Waow this is a lot for one day"
"please pity my child, she's mentally sick" she joins her palms together as she pleads.
"ma'am a judge will determine that" he leaves the room.
I was outside the room when detective Robles walks towards me.
"Miss can we both go to the station"
"okay sure"
