Months had gone by after my mom's case was presented to the jury, in the long procces of the trial grandpa had confessed something he found out years ago, but he couldn't reveal as he feared for his life.
It was a sunny hot afternoon at grandpa's house, we both had our sit on his couch, on that faithful day he revealed to me the true cause of the car accident that occurred years ago.
He had discovered years after the accident, that my step mom marissa had tempered with the brakes of the car on that day and for the lorry that had entered the road from the middle of nowhere, was also part of her evil plans.
Initially she wanted both my dad and i dead, but I had survived it. After I had heard this shocking discovery I didn't hesitate but made my way straight to the police station and filed another murder case against her, this time grandpa himself was going to testify against her in court.
A year had gone by after my mom's trial for the death of Joel, Brenda, my dad and attempted murder against me, she was giving three consecutive life sentence and ten years for attempted murder.
The lorry driver was traced he had died in jail eleven years after the accident that lead to dad's death. He was already sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering someone.
As for Chuck he was given fifteen years for attempted murder. And for Jim twelve years for kidnapping grandpa and keeping the nanny hired hostage out of her own will.
Hearing the verdict of the judge made me happy but at the same time it felt like a hole had been punctured in my heart.
At last the burden of finding Joel's killer had been taken off my shoulders, but the guilt of being related to the killer made me feel like I was the cause of his death.
Joel's family didn't want anything to do with me, they still blamed me till today for their son's death, but once in a while they pick up Joel Jr to spend the weekend with him.

Two years had passed by things had gotten better for me, my career as a journalist had blossomed. I became really popular in Los Angeles and new york.
Finally i had my own licensed media house, which had room for both professional journalist and amateurs.
This was all I could ever wish for being successful and having my one true love Joel Jr with me.
