Falling against a hard cold stone ground woke Lis up after this chaotic morning.
She must have been sleeping very deep while the guard carried her away and brought her in the arena. Hallstein already waited for her but it didn't seemed like Hegar was around.
-
"Morning. Seems like you had some sleep and even after what happened yesterday."
He stood there again with the crossbow and the targets.
While she got up Lis checked confused her arms.
The wounds on her wrists and the burns were almost healed completely but she didn't wasted more thoughts on it.
"We'll try it again today. Yesterday wasn't your day, hopefully today is."
Lis nodded and walked to Hallstein.
"Oh and if you wonder- If you know all the weapons we will train more with them. Our time is just short."
-
Lis grabbed the crossbow and put the arrow in.
Hallstein looked at her with curiosity.
"Whats it? Did Hegar did something to your brain yesterday. Your so cold and your eyes- they look dead."
-
Lis looked up to him
"Nothing, I guess I just realized what I have to do."
With the same cold look she shot the targets. Hallstein looked worried.
"I didn't wanted you do he like me..." He whispered and closed his eyes. "But I guess it's too late now."
And so they ended Crossbow lesson and started with a new weapon.
-
You went from every type of ax to a lot of maces to the swords till they reached the last knife and even more.
They even had the shields but not for long.
"Always remember- the best defense is attack. Shields are just annoying in a fight. You need to be, faster, stronger and smarter."
-
-
Another half year passed and it was summer again. Lis stopped counting long ago, but it must have been almost a year since all of this. Plus they finally were finished with the weapons and as far as she knew they would train fistfighting and martial arts with and without weapons next.
-
Meanwhile, she moved to another cell with thicker chains and walls so that she and Karma could not break free. She could see the arena from her new cell where she often had to watch how people got slayed like animals and sometimes she saw how they trained Karma and what he had to do. She wanted to feel sorry for him but somehow she just got angry and she felt a stange power rising inside her.
-
One night Hegar came to take Lis somewhere -again.
Since she was together in a cell with her dragon she could sleep better again but already had nightmares from the nights she got tortured.
The relationship between her and karma grew stronger and bigger with every hour they were together. Karma gave Lis some of his food and Lis took care of his wounds.
And that night they both slept very peacefully. Hegar slowly and carefully picked Lis up to not wake her and then he walked into dark again.
-
As Lis opened her eyes everything was blurry. She was tied on a chair in the same room as she was last time hanging on the ceiling.
She saw these injections again and noticed Hegar standing in the corner behind her.
-
"What do you want this time?" she asked cold while trying to find a good stand on the floor.
"Oh your awake. And you can move already? Well that's good for you."
-
"What.Do.You.Want?" she asked again.
"Well I heard some things about you and also a routine check." he saide without looking at her.
He filled another injection.
"Well funny story but I guess all that is your mother's 'fault'."
-
He have Lis the injection and smirked.
"What have you done with her?!" Lis asked in shock.
"Well Revna was a Thorson. She wasn't from here but she was beautiful. I remember this day like yesterday. We attacked a southern island - I've already forgotten its name, but I've leaded it. The tribe there was some kind of strong warriors that made us problems over generations. These people were stronger, faster and more skilled than every assassin I've saw. I remembered that on this day they celebrated a fest and everyone was tired and week. It was easy for us to eliminate them. We also made slaves but your mother, the way she looked at me- I fell in love with her and she with me. Weeks later we married and 3 years later you were born."
Lis looked confused at him.
"And what exactly did she with me?"
"Well you own the genes of her tribe. That makes you special. She never told me much about her tribes power but I know she was special, born without powers but still the last survivor."
Lis finally understood what was going on with her. But she couldn't imagine that it was normal for some people.
"I'll bring you back to your friend if you freed yourself from the chair and from the chains- as a little test."
Than he left
-
She thought about it longer than usual. How could her mother fall in love with such an asshole? Now the saying 'blinded by love' got a meaning.
-
However it happened, it didn't seemed like he already hurt her and now she had only one goal left - survive and revenge.
-
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before she started to pull on the rope which was tied around her, the chair, her wrists and her feet.
She rubbed it on the chair edges till she could rip it in two parts.
She pushed against the floor with her feet. The sweat runned over her face and let her eyes burn. Than she took her whole strength together and pulled, even screamed against the pain of burning wrists. After that a mysterious aura was around and also where scared screams and other noices heard. In general it was a fearsome silence. But he rope fell and only the chain on her neck hold her back.
-
A clink was heard and the chain fell in several parts on the ground.
-
A cold breeze extinguished the torches as Lis stood up.
She looked around if she might find a weapon.
She hide a broken blade under her bandages. Than she broke the lock and opened the door.
-
As she slowly headed back to her Dragon friend she crossed a corridor with cells. Each one filled with prisoners. They hanged their hands out of the cells and begged for food - almost like Zombies but as Lis walked through they started to walk backwards and went silent like they wanted hide.
-
It looked like a school of fish being chased by a shark.
-
Lis tried to not look at it till...
A man crashed against the cell wall and wanted to grab her. Lis scared up and slapped his hand away. She gave him a cold look.
The man fell back on the floor and crawled back in a corner.
"What are you? Are you send from Hell? Please! Don't! You're sent to get us all! You're a demon! Aren't you? Stay away from us!"
He whined and shivered and in the shone of the torch she could see his small pupils.
But she just turned away and walked further till she fell and passed out in the middle of the floor somewhere in these caves.
