She couldn't sleep that night. But it was just one of many, too many. There were thick, dark blue circles under her eyes, almost black.
But these sleepless nights were slowly becoming normal.
Her thoughts danced through her head. It didn't let her go that this night someone, no, something was killing so many people. Innocent prisoners, slaves, guards with family. 》This thing lost it's humanity or it was its nature to do that. But why in the name of all Gods would they create such a thing.《
-
When morning dawned, the sun rose and slowly shone through the small cave crack, Lis hadn't slept, not for a second.
With the morning her training continued. A guard brought her in the arena.
-
Today was a different feeling. She knew she was learning how to use a crossbow today, but something was different. Some prisoners scrubbed the blood off the floor, the blood that had been stuck to the floor since last night.
She tried to ignore it as much she was able to but when she got herself a blood covered crossbow she paniced a little bit. She knew that someday she would have to get used to it but it felt strange anyway.
-
The smell of human blood, dead bodies and decay caused a strange feeling but she couldn't tell if it made her feel ok or uncomfortable. It was just there and made her knees shake. Or maybe she shook because of the weapon she couldn't used and her punishment woud even be worse than last time if she failed.
-
It was a cold day, it felt like her arms and legs were made of ice. How could she survive all the time?
-
Every time she breathed, her lukewarm breath evaporated and fell back to the ground as ice crystal dust.
It seemed to be a calm moment, but anyone who knew what was going on knew that the silence was only deceptive.
-
Hallstein amd Hegar where talking something she couldn't understand completely.
".....more time...."
"....can't do that..."
"......could die!"
"...harder training...."
"...kill...or die...."
"...just necessary..."
"....play...game...."
-
Lis tried to listen, but it didn't work. The two came closer. Hallstein gave Lis an arrow and showed her how to clamp the arrow.
He pointed on the target. The arrow shot through the middle and touched the stone wall.
"Now your turn."
Lis had trouble putting the arrow into the crossbow, and the fact that Hegar was standing behind her and watching every move she mede made her nervous and trembling.
She pointed, *deep breathe* and shot.
-
As the same moment at the arrow hit the stone wall a loud slap was heared.
"Do it right! Do it better! You're a shame for the family! We never fail!"
-
Even if it was her first day with the crossbow, the man behind her had strict expectations.
He stood there with his arms crossed, waiting for the next shot.
But her heart was pounding in her chest as if it was going to explode every second and her arms were shaking.
"Do you want to wait until tomorrow or what? Until the arrow grows feet?"
He grabbed her head and turned it towards him!
"Shoot the damn arrow! Is that too heavy for you! The arrow here!"
He pointed to the target and yelled at Lis.
-
The only thing good was that the string couldn't hurt her just like the normal bow did. But just as bad as she was at bow shooting she was in crossbow shooting and even 3 times worse.
-
When she pulled the trigger, there was a huge setback that knocked her back.
- The target was missed and Hegar disappointed.
"You're not my descendant! You're not worthy to live."
With disappointment he sobbed.
"Stand up and try it again! And don't fail. Or do you really want to kill more of these innocent people?"
-
As she heard the words "you" and "kill" panic rose inside her and the pictures from last night came back in her memories.
》No, no, no that couldn't be her. She was the whole night awake. She had control over what she did. She didn't killed anyone. No not her. But what else did he ment with it?《
-
Even if it was cold, sweat rolled down her back and it felt like the rest of the world would break into millions of pieces as she realized the truth.
A cold wind blew through the arena. A wind that wanted to take her far away, away from this, away from life. Tears streamed down her cheek as she sat on her knees down on the floor. The grip around her crossbow grew stronger until she gripped an arrow and instantly shot at the target without hesitation.
-
The arrow hit the target in the middle, deep inside she knew it was just luck this time, but the way she stood there with that blank black look and tiny pupils made her look confident, and that deceived him.
-
He smirked and turned away.
"See? It's just about the right words and method. I think we will continue like that."
Her eyes widened, she wanted to hold him back but some guards did taht with her.
"No! You bastard! Die! How can a human be such a monster! You lost your mind father! Look at the truth! I will hunt you down! One day! I kill you! Your just an empty creature! Die and suffer! I swear I kill you! I will rip your head off! I will make sure you won't hurt anyone again! one day you will regret! I hate you! I hate you more than all this!"
-
He went silent....
-
She tried to pull away. She wanted to see him dead! Right now! What he had done was unforgivable.
-
"Make sure to bring her in Cell 13, I got some extra fun for her today. And make sure she's passed out."
Hegar said that in such a cold tone that the blood in everyone's body fteezed.
Than he walked away without one look back.

-
-
Lis woke up, her hands chained on her back that she could barely kneel. The last thing she could remember was the knock on her head the guards gave her.
Her sight blurred and she heard steps. She had no idea in which part of the 'prison' she was. Her head hurted a bit but so far she was ok with that.
-
Slow steps came towards her and next to her someone put a bucket of water. She could hear the sound of a burning fire and a metal staff scratching on a stone.
-
she could see the boots standing infront of her. She looked up and saw her father.
》No! This man was no longer her father! No longer part of her family'!《
Again, this awful smirk appeared on his face and he laughed a bit.
Her neck became tired and she couldn't hold her head longer up.
"Huh? You really thought you could ever kill me? Pfft! You're! Too! Weak! Ridiculous!"
-
The metal staff she could hear some seconds ago now appeared next to her face. Her eyes opened as she saw it glowing of heat.
Hegar put it in the Bucket and a long and loud 'Tsssssssss' could be heard.
-
He grabbed her face and held the metal staff under her chin.
"Uh! Your face is dirty! Clean it up!"
He pushed her head into a bath of ice-cold water next to her.
Lis tried to scream and breathe, but her mouth filled with water. When he raised her head and held it by her hair, she had to cough heavily and before she even could breathe again her head was under water again!
It felt like she would drown and even if it were only a few minutes it felt like forever.
-
Then he released his grip and went aside.
Lis was out of breath, trying to breathe, buthad to cough instead. The water was already freezing her hair and slowly freezing her lungs.
"Awww does it hurt? And you just told me to kill me?" He laughed and took the hot metal staff. ....."
-
-
Loud painful screams filled the nightsky ofer hours and hours or should we say the whole night? The screams scared everyone and every soul inner a 500 meter radius. And if you heard one your heart would instantly break into thousand pieces.
-
Lis was covered with wounds from cuts to burns. Her clothes and hair were wet. She was still hanging on these chains in this uncomfortable position. Her body hurt. It hurt so much that she would still feel it even if she were death.
The metal staff still smoke in his bucket and Lis began to whimper.
But she survived the night and her chance to kill this man was still there...
-
-
Without noticing it someone unchained her and brought her back to her cell where he chained her again. And not just this. He threw a black leather thing with her into the cell. But Lis was too weak amd tired to move so she just passed out with eyes open, like she froze.
