::::
minho sketched in his notebook as usual during the long and boring lunch period. he really doesn't have anything specific in mind he's trying to draw, he's just letting his hand go as it wishes.
suddenly, he smelt something good close to him. confused, minho looked up to see jeongin standing in front of him with a plate of nachos. minho raised an eyebrow, unamused.
"no," is all he said, looking back down at the drawing and ignoring the other. he heard jeongin huff, yet he didn't leave.
"i got this for my friend and turns out he didn't want it. i don't want to waste it, but i already ate my food," jeongin tried to convince, but minho wasn't an idiot. he didn't believe a word that kid just said.
"i literally just saw you walk onto the lunch line and bolt over here after."
jeongin's face turned red, trying to come up with another excuse, "um... that wasn't me!"
minho then dropped the pencil, and stared at the younger, an annoyed facial expression planted on his face. he just wanted to be left alone. he was not in the mood for people today.
"jeongin, you're the only kid in this entire cafeteria wearing a pink and white fuzzy striped sweater. i'm not stupid!"
jeongin put the tray on the table, and crossed his arms. he pouted like a little kid, "please eat themmmm!"
minho slammed his hands on the table and stood up, meeting jeongin's eyes, "what part of 'no' don't you understand? do i have to spell it out for you!"
jeongin went from eager to upset in the blink of an eye. "fine, starve!" the younger then grabbed the nachos and brought it over to his table, where him and his friends started picking at it. minho sat back down in his seat and let out a sigh. he didn't mean to scream like that at all. it was like he wasn't in control of what he said, and the words just flew out of his mouth.
minho peered a look at jeongin's table, where the younger was visibly upset. he sat slumped on the bench, head placed in both of his hands. jeongin's gaze was stuck on a random spot on the table, avoiding eye contact with everyone. and he wore the biggest frown minho's ever seen on the usually happy kid.
minho's stomach twisted with guilt. he hated the fact he was the one to shatter jeongin's mood. he facepalmed himself, feeling horrible for the way he yelled at him.
why are you such a fucking asshole?
minho shivered at the thought, desperately trying to brush off the fact it's true. that kid is nothing but nice to him, and he turns around and screams at him for no reason.
you deserve to feel as awful as you make him feel.
minho nodded, agreeing with whoever was speaking to him inside his mind. he felt tears brim his eyes, and decided to draw it off before he does anything impulsive.
he continued on his new project from earlier, trying to stop himself from crying. minho doesn't want to draw any attention to himself, and crying would definitely do the trick.
then out of nowhere, minho's pencil was ripped out of his hand and notebook was sent flying across the table. he questionably looked up, to see a familiar face. it was the same guy who made fun of his red hair when he first dyed it, and the same friend laughing next to him.
"and what was that for?" he calmly asked with a hint of sass, getting up to retrieve it. instead, he was shoved into the table, and the first guy grabbed the book before minho could.
he flipped to the page minho was working on, and laughed. the other friend grabbed both minho's wrists, making him unable to move and take it back.
"hey! what are you doing?!" he yelled, gaining attention from everyone in the room.
oh, how minho just wanted to disappear. it was bad enough these bullies are tormenting him now of all times, but they're also causing a scene for everyone to watch.
"cute little drawing," he snickered, ripping the page out of the book and crumbling it up. minho shrieked, mentally praying he doesn't destroy any finished product.
the boy started going though the rest of the notebook, realizing there was more drawings than notes.
"no wonder you're failing every class, you have more amateur sketches in here than classwork. classic lee minho."
he then went to rip out another page.
"stop it!" minho cried, trying the best he could to get out of the friends grip. he let the angry tears fall down his cheek, and he questioned why nobody was trying to help him.
please...someone help.
but before he could rip another page out, jeongin then showed up from behind him and slammed it out of his hand. the notebook hit the floor unharmed, and the kid picked it up and closed it gently.
"what's wrong with you both!" he shouted, voice cracking from being so loud. "he spent time and effort on those, and you're just throwing it away?!"
the two laughed, letting go of minho and getting ready to walk away. "your little sophomore pal is defending you. how pathetic."
once they finally left minho alone, he stood frozen in his place. he looked around to see all eyes on him, most people snickering at the incident.
getting out of his trance, minho grabbed his bag and ran up to jeongin, taking his notebook back.
"i don't need your help!" he shouted, not making eye contact. he quickly ran out of the cafeteria, not knowing where to go.
minho eventually found himself in an empty hallway, where he crashed his back against a row of lockers and slowly slid down, still refusing to cry. he didn't want to seem weak if someone were to walk down the hall.
jeongin then peered around the corner, running after minho. once he spotted him sitting on the floor, he went over and sat down next to him.
"you run fast," he commented, not getting a reaction out of the other. jeongin then grabbed him by the shoulders forced minho to face him, pulling him into a tight hug. he figured the other needed it. even if he was still angry, he did not deserve what those boys did to him one bit.
minho finally broke down in the others arms, shaking and hot tears uncontrollably falling from his eyes. jeongin rubbed his back in attempt to calm him down, but it did nothing.
"w-what did i-i fucking do to them?" minho's voice was shaky and strained, and he sounded absolutely defeated.
jeongin's heart sank at the sound of his cries, and he knew all he could do was be there for him.
in times like this, sometimes just being a friend is all the person needs. jeongin learned that the hard way.
