"It's ok we can do this" he whispered before your names were called next.
"Good morning class! I, (L/N), worked with Matsukawa-san on our assignment which was to figure out the role of oxytocin production in bonding with others."
You gestured towards the board as you spoke, "We decided the only real course of action to take with experimenting was to see how physical contact between us would influence our..." your eyes widened in horror as the word slipped your tongue--you knew your public speaking skills were working too well for too long.
"...Friendship" Matsukawa finished for you. "We thought that engaging in simple things like holding hands, hugging or sitting near each other might not only make us closer friends, but achieve it much quicker."
You silently thanked him as you continued. "Here is our presentation of the data and research we've come up with" you said gesturing to the board.
The both of you went further into detail, unbeknownst to you that your classmates were all shooting each other knowing looks. By the end of your presentation you were all talked out, having used every bit of social skills you could muster. Mattsun looked spent too, almost having rambled towards the end.
"Thank you Matsukawa and (L/N). Are there any questions from the class?" your sensei called out as per protocol.
Every student's hand rose immediately, shocking you both and the sensei. He called on the person nearest to you at the front first.
"So you only hugged, sat next to each other and held hands?" the student asked skeptically.
"...Yes?" you both said looking at each other, not even the slightest bit convincing in your delivery.
Suddenly another student piped up "And after this whole thing you guys are just friends, not dating?"
You both nodded, not trusting your voices a second time. A student in the seat next to them smirked before starting up.
"Did you know you live in the house across from me, (L/N)-chan?"
"Ah really? That's cool, I don't really know the neighbors well since I'm still kinda new over there but I do really like the neighborhood!" you answered cheerily, hoping your enthusiasm when answering questions would get you some bonus points on your project score.
You looked at them in pleasant disbelief, what a small world—then it dawned on you what that might've meant.
"Same! It has such a lovely atmosphere with a lot of freshness and love in the air~ Sometimes you'll see young couples kissing and chatting under the moonlight together~" they grinned, making the pair's face go completely red as some of the students giggled.
"I want to die" you whispered Mattsun.
"Suicide pact?" he whispered back as you both lightly high fived behind your backs before proceeding to answer all of the incredibly embarrassing 'questions' your classmates had.

"Ah, it seems Karasuno is here" the coach said as he peaked out of the gym. "Come greet the team and help them with their things boys."
Oikawa and Kindaichi seemed unusually tense as they walked out but you knew better than to approach them. You found it interesting to see how Iwaizumi and Kunimi were also on the same team but harbored no malice towards Kageyama, and a part of you felt thankful for that.
As you finished setting up the net you heard a loud voice echo throughout the gym.
"Look at you (y/n), you look almost like a real manager!"
