Two days later, David had just returned back from school, on getting to his brother's house, he could hear voices, one of them was Uncle Sam's; it seemed the family had gathered again.
Just another family meeting or so he thought.

"Dave!" Kelechi called from the as he soon as he reached the door step.

He stepped into the living room; most of his relatives were there, his mom, including two of his late dad's brother's.

David greeted everyone.
"Daddy's boy, how are you?" His mom asked

'Daddy's boy?' David thought, he couldn't remember the last time his mother called him that, but he answered nonetheless.

"Eh! Sis, you still call him that?" Uncle Sam questioned "He's a big boy now o"

"David you've really grown" one of David's late dad brother commented.

After the exchange of greetings, Kelechi took David to the kitchen.

"What's happening?" David asked "What's the meeting about?"

"Guess"

David stared at his brother, trying to read the expression on his face to get a hint; but the dude's face was as straight as a wall.

"No idea" David said finally, admitting defeat.

"Oliver is coming over"

"What?!!"

"Keep your voice down"

"Why?" David inquired

"It seems he wants to apologize, so he wants to see everyone"

"That devil", David said and swore.

Kelechi's expression changed immediately and David noticed. He quickly apologized; Kelechi had sternly warned him of the use of offensive languages in front of him.

"Well, better go freshen up, he'll be here any minute", his brother said finally before heading for the living room.

"So you're saying she accepted?" Essien asked David

"Totally" David replied "I can't understand bro"

It was the next day; David was explaining the outcome of 'Oliver's apology' to Essien.

He couldn't really fathom what attracted his mom to that man, just a mumble of an apology and she was fluttering back towards him. His mind drifted to his brother's word, "Sometimes I fear she's under a spell", he once said.

'She can't be? Right?' he contemplated within himself,

'She's a devout christian'

David assured himself on that while inspecting the library for any loitering student. He was the prefect on duty this week and was doing the rounds, the bell signaling the end of recess had gone so he had to make sure everyone was back in class.

"So what are you going to do?" asked Essien who was helping him out.

David's actual assistant on duty was Samantha but she was caught up with loads of class work"

David shook his head as they concluded the inspection and headed for their class.

"There's nothing I can do", David lamented, a heavy sigh accompanying it.

They had a free period immediately after break, so most of his classmates were chatting away and a few trying to catch up on notes they haven't copied or completed. David leaned on the rail of the balcony, staring at the ceiling.
