Ever since Essien's apology, David had been in a very good mood for days. He explained the happenings to his brother and his decision against Essien going back to their mom to confess his deeds.
"I agree with you," Kelechi said, "Mom will view him in a completely different manner"
Later that week, David had planned a rendezvous with Vivian but this time she compelled him to come over to her place.
He did not really buy the idea but after much persuasion, he reluctantly agreed.
He had never been to her home before, but the fact her uncle was absent in the meantime made it a bit comfortable for him to accept. He could not really fathom how he would act around him given the tales he had heard from Vivian.David arrived at her neighbourhood a few hours before sunset.
Vivian was already at the gate, ready to receive him, a sultry smile was etched across her captivating visage.
"I thought you wouldn't come," she said, greeting him with a warm hug.
Before he could muster a reply, she pulled him through the gate into her home.
Upon entering, David was greeted by the sight of a very elegant bungalow surrounded by ornamental flowers all around, but this was just a fleeting view because Vivian still had her hands on his forearm pulling him towards the front door.
Immediately they were finally in, her next series of actions left David totally stupefied.Vivian locked the door and with her hands still on David, she slammed him towards the wall with as much force as she could gather and kissed him with such ferociousness that made his heart skip a beat.
The kiss was so intense that he had to withdraw to catch his breath, his eyes wide in shock.
Vivian laughed so hard at his reaction that she nearly choked on her saliva,
"I thought these set of things can't make you flinch huh?" She teased.
Regaining his composure, David chuckled awkwardly, avoiding direct eye contact.
"I didn't flinch" he retorted, then his eyes darted to hers, a glint of mischief slightly inconspicuous in them, "but be careful what you ask for"
"Ooooh" Vivian exclaimed teasingly, "I'm not afraid of threats though"
David hissed at her and took a seat discreetly examining the living room."Very well" Vivian said scooting over, "you do owe me a load of gist so start spilling"
And for the next half hour, David found himself divulging every detail of how Essien apologized and all.
You could never give a half explanation to Vivian, she was the type that always wanted the exact description of things; from as little as the colour of one's shoe to the exact shape of the eyebrow of a person, leaving no room for you to withhold any information.
Vivian listened with rapt attention, her smile widening as the story unfolded.
By the time David was done, the smile on her face had widened to the point that the corner of her lips was practically touching her temples, even David had not seen her smile this much
.
"So you guys are good now?" She asked still wanting to confirm."Yeah we are"
And at this point, perhaps due to David's affirmation, though one could not be exactly sure what triggered it, the drama queen in her was instantly unleashed taking centre stage.
She sprung up from the couch and assumed the pose of a ballerina, standing on tiptoes, she raised her right arm gracefully overhead with her elbow slightly bent and her hands cupped gently almost as if they were cradling an invisible flower.
With her free arm, she beckoned unto David to join her. David obeyed slowly joining in her act.
"Your arms around my waist," she said in a commanding tone
David meekly heeded, she giggled a bit at his swift compliance and then her eyes bore into his'.
"I guess the term ended well, didn't it?" She asked "Your mom is fine, although your stepdad dyeing wasn't good news but it was like a blessing in disguise, now you don't have to worry but focus on your studies, the whole dilemma has been resolved"
David smiled reminiscing about the start of the term, the troubles and issues he faced, he could not agree less, everything had turned out fine.
"And meeting you also facilitated all these processes," He said, "You're a God sent"
"Am I?" Vivian asked, her brown eyes matching David's stare,
"Yes, you are" He affirmed and he hugged her tightly, indeed her presence had brought a sense of calm to his life.
Tranquillity he hoped would continue forever.
