Third Person POV
"Mr. Bilbo! It's Y/N!" the eleven-year-old hobbit girl named Y/N L/N shouted, knocking on the door of Bilbo Baggins.
The door opened to reveal a cute twelve-year-old hobbit with curly black hair that almost reached his shoulders. He had sparkling blue eyes and a warm smile.
"Are you here to see my uncle?" the little boy asked.
"Mr. Bilbo is your uncle? I never knew he had a nephew." Y/N said.
"I'm Frodo Baggins. My parents perished and Bilbo took me in. Who are you?"
"My name is Y/N L/N. It's a pleasure to meet you Frodo." Y/N greeted with a smile, holding out a hand for Frodo to shake and holding her book under her arm.
"It's great to meet you too." Frodo said, shaking her hand. They just stood there for a few seconds before Frodo dropped her hand and said "What book have you got there?"
"It's a story called Peter Pan. Have you read it?" Y/N asked.
"Yes, I have! It's a wonderful story. Would you like to come inside?"
"Yes, please." Y/N answered, stepping inside as Frodo closed the door behind her. "Uncle Bilbo, Y/N is here to see you!"
Bilbo entered the room, a kind smile on his face as usual. "Hello, Y/N, dear. I see you've met Frodo. I hope the two of you will be friends. Frodo is a very good boy. At least from what I've seen today."
"Well, we both like Peter Pan." Y/N said with a light giggle. Bilbo smiled.
Suddenly, there was a loud knock on the door and Frodo immediately opened it to reveal a tall man with grey robes, a pointy hat, and a long grey beard with matching hair.
Frodo frowned and looked at the man with a raised eyebrow. "You're not a hobbit. Uncle Bilbo, do you know this man?"
"Gandalf, my dear friend! I wasn't expecting you! It's wonderful to see you!" Bilbo exclaimed, giving the man, Gandalf, a hug. "It is wonderful to see you as well, Bilbo." Gandalf said as Bilbo ushered everyone further into the house, closing the door.
"Wait. Mr. Bilbo, is this the wizard you talked about from your adventures? Gandalf the Grey?" Y/N questioned, her eyes widening.
"In fact, it is, my dear Y/N." Bilbo replied.
Y/N squealed in excitement and engulfed the wizard in a hug, wrapping her arms around him tightly. "Bilbo's told me all about you! You're so amazing! I love you! I love you! I love you! Is it true that you killed the goblin king? What about when you moved a boulder and turned the trolls to stone?!" Y/N rambled, over excited.
Gandalf seemed a bit shocked, but he patted her on the back and said "That is true..Er. Y/N, was it?"
"Yes, Mr. Gandalf. Y/N L/N. You're so awesome!" Y/N said, pulling away. She grabbed Frodo's arm and jumped up and down in excitement, hoping he would share her enthusiasm. Frodo just looked at her, confused.
"Frodo, why don't you and Y/N go out and play. Gandalf and I need to talk." Bilbo suggested.
"Yes, Uncle." Frodo said. "Come, Y/N."
"Okay. Bye, Mr. Gandalf!" Y/N called with a smile as Frodo took her hand and led her out the door. Gandalf smiled and waved a little.
"Where do you usually spend your time out here?" Frodo asked the little girl beside him.
Y/N's eyes lit up and she said "I know!" Still holding Frodo's hand, Y/N dragged him away, giggling. They ran into the forest and Y/N led him to her favorite tree. The woods was bright from the sun that was shining through the leaves of the trees. The grass was green, like it always was in the spring, and the temperature was a perfect mix between warm and chilly.
Y/N watched as Frodo climbed into the tree and sat down on a large branch. She started climbing too and Frodo offered her a hand. She took it and pulled herself onto the branch beside him.
The two of them looked out at the trees, their legs dangling from the branch. Y/N realized she was still holding his hand and let go, her face turning red.
"You know, you were right about this being a good place. Do you come here every day?" Frodo asked, breaking the peaceful silence.
"Just about. I usually read on the branches or by the trunk."
"Have you ever fallen?"
"Once. I was nine. I was tempted to stop climbing it. Because I was so scared. But I wasn't hurt, so I decided to be extra careful each time.
"You're the only one who's ever climbed it with me. Merry and Pippin are always 'too busy' and Sam is scared of climbing trees. And swimming in the river. And playing hide and seek in the cornfield. And- well, everything really." Y/N giggled. "But Rosie is always too busy cooking and cleaning just like the other girls. My mother talks about it all the time. It's horrible. 'Y/N, ladies aren't supposed to climb trees.' 'Y/N, you should be practicing cooking like Rosie.' 'Y/N, do the dishes like a proper lady.'
"But I don't care about being a 'proper lady'. I want to go on adventures. Read books. Dance at The Green Dragon. But my mother would never see that." Y/N finished sadly.
Frodo smiled sadly looked at her with is beautiful blue eyes. "I'm glad you aren't like those other girls if you don't want to be. It shouldn't matter what others say. Just do what you want. That's what my mother told me. 'You can be anything you want, Frodo Baggins. Not just what the other hobbits say you can.' And so can you. And, I'm not sure if it counts, but I think you're amazing. Just the way you are."
"It does count Frodo. Thank you." Y/N said with a smile.
"Now, let's talk about books." Frodo suggested. Y/N nodded. "A wonderful idea, Frodo Baggins."
