Y/N's POV

"Come along, Samwise. Keep up." Gandalf urged. Gandalf, Sam, Frodo, and I were on our way out of Hobbiton. The sun was just rising, and I was still very tired. In fact, Gandalf and Frodo had insisted that I rode on the horse. Sam had complained about how he couldn't, but I didn't care. I was half asleep.

Sam hurried to catch up as I jerked my eyes open at the sound of Gandalf's voice.

By sunrise, we had reached a forest. Gandalf stopped and said "Be careful, both of you. The enemy has many spies in his service: birds, beasts." Gandalf looked at Frodo. "Is it safe?"

Frodo put his hand over his chest pocket. "Never put it on, for the agents of the Dark Lord will be drawn to its power. Always remember, Frodo, the Ring is trying to get back to its master. It wants to be found."

I climbed off the horse and hugged Gandalf. He smiled and climbed on where I had been, riding away from us. It made me remember what Gandalf had told me before we left.

Flashback...

Samwise and I were in the living room with Gandalf while Frodo was gathering the rest of his items in his room.

"Y/N...Samwise...I have some things to tell you. Because you are going on this journey, you have to protect Frodo. Don't you lose him, Samwise Gamgee. And Y/N, well, I know you won't. You haven't left him from the moment he arrived in Bag End. But Y/N, you mustn't let him put on the ring. It will cause terrible things to happen to him. It will make him...well, I best not trouble you with it. Just look out for Frodo. I know you care for him, and he cares for you." I smiled and nodded.

Flashback Over...

We walked until we reached a cornfield. A familiar cornfield, at that. We were heading towards Farmer Maggot's. There was a chance Merry and Pippin would be there. I would at least like to say goodbye...

Sam suddenly stopped. Frodo and I turned around. "This is it." Sam declared.

"This is what?" Frodo and I asked simultaneously. We smiled at each other. "If I take one more step, it'll be the farthest away from home I've ever been." Apparently, Sam doesn't remember the incident at Farmer Maggot's when we first met.

"C'mon, Sam." Frodo said with a kind smile. Sam hesitantly stepped forward and Frodo put an arm around him. "Remember what Bilbo used to say? 'It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet-'"

"'-there's no knowing where you might be swept off to...'" Y/N finished for him. They smiled at each other. Sam groaned. "Oh, get a room!"

Timeskip...

Sam was cooking sausages in a pan, smoking his pipe. Frodo was smoking also, while reclining on a tree branch. I was sitting at the trunk of the tree, braiding my H/C hair. A/N: If you don't have long hair, you can skip that part.
