Jae woke up to the feeling of familiar hands wrapping around her. She nuzzled closely and halted. She opened her eyes and saw Yoongi sleeping. When did he come? Jae went to bed quite late that night, working on her song after she reached home from Daegu. It was 1.45 a.m. before she slept and she was definitely alone. She looked at the clock then. It was near to 4 a.m. Yoongi looked really tired and Jae's heart went to him. Careful not to jostle around, she snuggled closer and continued sleeping.
Jae woke up again as the sun was about to come up. She carefully moved Yoongi's hand away as she made her way to the bathroom. She then went on cooking breakfast. Her tummy was already growling, wanting to be fed. Yoongi's alarm on the phone went off as it hit 8 a.m. and he sat up straight away. He turned to Jae, with his tousled hair and bleary eyes. He wiped his face and ran his fingers through his hair.
"Good morning, oppa," said Jae from the stove.
Yoongi went trudging towards Jae and hugged her from behind. "Good morning," he said placing his head sideways on Jae's shoulder, still sleepy.
"Tough day yesterday?" asked Jae. "Why don't you wash up? We can have breakfast after that."
He kissed her quickly before making his way to the bathroom.
The breakfast spread for the day was quite big. Jae went all out cooking bulgogi and soft tofu soup. She brought out the side dishes Yoongi's mom packed for her.
"Wow, this is hearty," commented Yoongi as he sat at the coffee table.
"Special day deserves a huge breakfast spread. Merry Christmas, oppa," wished Jae. "Let's eat before it gets cold."
After they ate and cleared the table, Jae handed him a present. "This is for you."
"Hold on," he said, pulling on his backpack nearby. He took a long box out and handed it to her too.
"I thought the equipment there were my presents," said Jae, eyeing on her work desk.
"That's part 1. This is part 2," said Yoongi.
"You're wrong. This is part 3."
"What's part 2?"
"Your letters," Jae said happily, taking the shoe box on the book rack. "I'm having second thoughts on letting you read those unopened letters. You'd better not know what's in it."
"Aww come on. You already gave it to me," Yoongi objected, holding his hand out for that box.
"I gave it to you then. And now it's with me," said Jae. "Don't bother taking this one. This box only contains the ones you replied to," added Jae as he was about to take the box away.
"Jae, I want to read it," he insisted.
"You missed your chance," replied Jae in a sing-song tune as she opened her present, not wanting to talk about the letters anymore. Her eyes brightened as she saw the content in the box. "It's a Vic Firth – Steve Gadd drumstick! Thank you!!!" said Jae, hugging and kissing Yoongi happily. "I've been wanting this for years. I promise I'll try not to break it."
"You break drumsticks?" asked Yoongi, shocked.
"Sometimes, when I get too absorbed with the song," answered Jae sheepishly. "Just because I'm thin it doesn't mean I don't have the muscle power to break the stick," Jae flexed her arm.
"There's something else in the compartment under the drumstick," said Yoongi.
Jae removed the lid and paused. "Oppa, this is too much," said Jae as she looked at the Tiffany's interlocking necklace.
