Throughout the years Jae cinched more jobs with high profile game developers locally and internationally. She was offered job positions in various company but she turned it all down. She did try working on a permanent post in a company. She found out she was not fit for a big corporation setting.
Jae chose not to be attached to just one developer knowing that she could work freely and choose the projects that she wanted. She opened her own studio and she was faring really well. She was not that picky about where the project was from. Some were from small timer and some were from the big league. She was not looking for fame. She just wanted to deliver and achieve the satisfaction of completing the task. For that she became one of the most sought after game musicians.
Jae traveled in and out of Korea around as much as Yoongi does, only that she didn't go for a long period of time. She visits her family in New York during Christmas and would always spend Chuseok, visiting her family in Daegu. She was happier.
She looked at Yoongi who was shooting the basketball through the hoop. They haven't been playing for a long time that Jae asked him out. Their relationship was going strong with some differences of opinion along the way. They made up as fast as an issue came out. The kiss and make-up part that comes after were just as hot.
Jae pulled the ball cart nearer and took a ball from it. They had just finished playing 1 on 1 and were cleaning up. Yoongi was still shooting the hoop as he picked the ball along the way. She tried for a 3 point shot and cleared it. Then she took another ball, went dribbling, jumped and made a clean 2 pointer shot.
Yoongi went to the ball cart to deposit the balls he collected and paused. He looked at Jae before looking at the cart again. There was a ring box on top of the cart. He took it and opened it.
There was a wedding band.
Yoongi looked at Jae again and saw something shiny on her ring finger. That was the ring he got for her. He had been placing the ring box since yesterday, planning it as a surprise and hoping for her to notice, but her tunnel vision seemed to be at work. She didn't seem to notice it.
Yoongi jogged through his memory. Was she wearing it when they played? He was really sure she wasn't. He would have seen it. Why didn't she say anything about it? He snapped the box shut and dribbled towards Jae.
"So, when did you get this?" asked Yoongi casually, holding up the ring box as he bounced the ball with his right hand.
"Last month," replied Jae just as casual too.
Yoongi was shocked and the ball bounced off to other direction. "Last month?"
"I was second guessing myself if I should propose to you or wait until you do the honors. I already receive a lot of flak for chasing you hard when we were teenagers and I'm not going to tell our kids one day I was the one doing the proposal. I saw your ring box, so it's finally time for me to get my ring for you, out."
"And I thought the places I put that ring was not that strategic enough that you missed it because of your tunnel vision," said Yoongi, pointing to the ring Jae was wearing. "I had to change the place 5 times."
"It would really help if you ask me straight away. Such proposal deserve such answer. Just in case you were wondering, the ring box that you put at those places did catch my attention. I only pretended my tunnel vision was at work," confessed Jae impishly. "Man, that was hard, pretending not to see. Before we went out, I took the ring from the box," Jae put up her hand and marveled at the three-stone ring that she wore. "This is beautiful," she went and kissed Yoongi sweetly. "When did you get this?" she asked.
"I had it with me for a while. I was thinking of ways to propose."
"When?"
"Last month too. So, is that a yes?"
"How can I answer when I haven't even heard the question yet," replied Jae sassily.
"Three stones symbolizes the past, the present and the future. We share our past since we were teenagers. Being here with you in the present just makes me want to spend my future with you," started Yoongi. "Marry me?"
"How about you? Will you marry me?" asked Jae as she took the ring box from Yoongi's hand and opened it.
"I'll say yes to that," he replied, kissing her again. "You haven't answered my question yet," he grinned.
"Isn't it by default that it means yes when I asked you just now?"
"By default it is, you were the one who received the proposal answer first before I did. Technically, that made you the one who proposed first," said Yoongi.
Jae was speechless, "Wait, you asked first."
"I did, but I answered to your proposal first. You haven't answered mine yet," informed Yoongi. "Exact time, exact answer," he teased.
"Oh man..." replied Jae.
"Put the ring on me," said Yoongi, pointing to the ring box that she was holding.
"This is definitely going to cause a public uproar when people see you with this ring," she commented.
"Nah, I wear rings too," said Yoongi.
"On stage yes, but not much off stage," Jae paused as she took the ring out. "There, you're now my fiancé," said Jae as she done the deed.
"It fits," commented Yoongi.
"Of course. I used a twist tie and measured your ring size when you were asleep," admitted Jae.
Yoongi went to her and hugged her tight. "I won't tell anyone you proposed first," he promised.
"Especially Danny," said Jae.
"Especially him. Either way, we're getting married. I love you Ahn Jae Hwa-ssi."
"I love you too, Min Yoongi-ssi," replied Jae, sealing it with a kiss.
"Let's go home and celebrate," said Yoongi.
"Let's," Jae agreed.
