((Above is what Violet looks like, only green eyes instead of brown. :) ))
Bilbo POV
"There is mud, trailing the carpet, they've pillaged the pantry! I don't even want to tell you what they've done to the bathroom they've all but destroyed the plumbing!" I yelled to Gandalf watching dwarves run a muck around my house. I watched the wizard laugh "their quite a merry gathering!" He spoke once again. I sighed and wandered off to make sure nothing was broken, though I could hear him speaking with the bald one Dwalin. "We are one dwarf short." I heard Gandalf say. "He is late, is all. He travelled North to a meeting of our kin. He will come." Dwalin replied simply. "Great. Another dwarf." I growled in my head.
Thorin POV
I glared at the various signs around the shire, attempting for the second time to find Bilbo Baggin's house. "Where in Durin's name could it be!" I growled. I flinched hearing metel clash. I looked beyond the hill to the right of me and saw a small girl...with a sword, fighting against an older boy. The boy was defiantly a hobbit but the girl didn't look like one. "Huh...never thought I'd see that." I muttered. I watched her form, perfect. Her technique was flawless, unlike the boy who was sloppy. I went to go higher and slipped falling on the ground. Catching the attention of the two. I glanced and watched the girl sprint away however the boy stayed. "Can I help you?" He asked. I stood and huffed, "I'm looking for Mr. Baggins house?" I asked. The boy pointed at the house to my left. "Thank you..." I murmered before going off.
I knocked on the door to have it answered by none other than the hobbit. "Gandalf. I thought you said this place would be easy to find. I lost my way, twice. Wouldn't have found it at all had it not been for that mark on the door." I said, not wanting to admit I had a bit of help. "Mark? There's no mark on that door. It was painted a week ago!" Bilbo shouted pushing past me. "There is a mark; I put it there myself. Bilbo Baggins, allow me to introduce the leader of our company, Thorin Oakenshield." Gandalf said introducing me. I looked the hobbit up and down, not nearly as impressed as I was hoping to be. "So, this is the Hobbit. Tell me, Mr. Baggins, have you done much fighting?" I asked, he looked utterly confused. "Pardon me?" He asked. "Axe or sword? What is your weapon of choice?" I asked. "Well, I have some skill at Conkers, if you must know, but I fail to see why that's relevant." He replied. 'Really? Conkers?' I thought. "Thought as much. He looks more like a grocer than a burglar." I said, causing the company to laugh. We all laugh and go into the dining room to talk.
"What news from the meeting in Ered Luin? Did they all come?" Balin asked me. "Aye. Envoys from all seven kingdoms." I replied. "What of the dwarves of the iron hills? Is Dain with us?" Dwalin asked. "They say they will not come." I said, causing disappointed quiet chit chat. "They say this quest is ours and ours alone." I said. "Your going on a quest?" I heard bilbo ask. "Yes, one that requires a burglar with the ability to defend themselves if needed." I snapped. "Well...that's not me." Bilbo said. "I saw a girl, on my way here. Fighting with a boy." I said. Bilbo nodded, "yes that was probably Violet." He said. "Violet?" I asked. "Yes, she's a wonderful fighter, extremely and shy though. Her father has a drinking problem...no doubt has done something to her to make her so afraid of people. Especially men." Bilbo said. I felt my heart ache slightly hearing this. "Well...do ya think she would join us?" Bofur asked. Bilbo shrugged, "I mean...I suppose you could ask her. Her father is gone on a trip for quite some time. So it's really her decision." Bilbo said. "Will you go get her?" I asked. Bilbo sighed and nodded.
Violet POV
I sat and quietly ate my dinner, watching the fire, drying from my bath. I could feel myself becoming more and more bored of my none changing life. Wake up, take a bath, get food for the day, tend to the garden, clean around the house and practice my fighting. That is all.
I jumped hearing a knock on the door. I gently set down my supper and scurried to the door. I cracked the door and saw Mr. Baggins. "Oh, good afternoon Mr. Baggins" I said opening the door a little more. "How may I help you?" I asked. He sighed and scratched the back of my head. "Well...may I ask you an odd question?" He said. I nodded slowly. I liked Mr. Baggins, he was a very kind man, never rude and always offering me tea."I suppose, yes." I said. "Well...it will be a lot easier to allow them to explain the situation because I do not know it myself. But I have some company who have seen your fighting skills...and would like to ask you to help them with a quest." He said. My eyes widened, "a q-quest?" I asked quietly. Bilbo nodded. I looked back into my home and saw the boring dinner, fire and armchair waiting for me to return. I looked back to Bilbo and nodded. I gently closed my door locking it before following Bilbo back to his home.
He opened the door, I hid behind him, honestly frightened of who his guests where. "Gandalf, she came!" Bilbo said. I froze and panicked. I pulled my sleeves of my sweater, hiding my hands as I wrapped my arms over my stomach. I followed Bilbo into the dining room to see 13 dwarves. "Hello there lass," a dwarf with a funny looking hat said to me. I felt terror rising in my chest, I couldn't utter a word only nodded.
Thorin POV
I turned and looked at the girl, she had medium length brown hair, soft green eyes, and a terrified expression. I noticed that she was wearing boots, and had small feet. I dismissed it and decided to speak to her. "Hello" I said standing looking down at her. She never looked at me, only nodded. "I saw you fighting earlier, your quite skilled." I said. She just nodded ever so slightly, I watched her squeezing the sleeves of her sweater tighter by the second. "Come, sit my dear." Gandalf spoke, Violet looked at him then darted her eyes to the empty chair between Bofur and I. She sat down, holding herself together tightly. "Will you please tell us your name lass?" Balin asked. She looked at him, "Violet..." She whispered. "What was that!" Gloin yelled from the other end of the table. "She said her name was Violet!" Kili said. "Well, Violet, what is your weapon of choice?" I asked. "Sword...axe...bow and arrow...throwing knives..." She said quietly. "So ya basically use everything?" Bofur asked. Violet nodded her head. "Excellent, now...we must ask you of something." Gandalf said. Violet nodded, looking at the wizard. "We ask of you to assist us, on a journey to reclaim our homeland." I said looking at the girl. She looked at me, her eye shined like emeralds, I could tell she was intensely interested.
We explained what happened, she nodded understanding every word. Once we finished I watched as she bit the portion of her sleeve that was over her hand. "What do you say lass?" Bofur started. "Will you help us?" He finished. Violet looked to every dwarf then down at her lap. After a moment of silence she nodded. Looking to me, though not with direct eye contact. "I will..." She audibly squeaked out.
"Wonderful!" Gandalf cheered. "Now-" "wait..." Violet quietly said. "What is it?" Dwalin asked. "I have one condition..." She said. "What?" Bofur asked. "I will only go if Mr. Baggins goes as well." She said quietly before looking to Bilbo, as did the rest of us.
