((I'm in love with the armor I choose for Violet...like I can't even handle it *exlodes*))

Violet PoV

As we all worked, Thorin came stomping through. "Come on." He said gaining our attention. I looked at Bofur, I had finally calmed down from last night...only thanks to Bofur comforting me until I fell asleep leaning on his chest, my cheeks where red from crying and Bofur was mumbling to himself "why would he do this to her." . Bofur grabbed my hand as we followed the rest up to the large balcony we had made out of the gate, each of us grabbing weapons. As we arrived we all noticed thousands of Mirkwood Elven soldiers. My eyes widened...if they where there...that meant Thranduil was as well. We all suddenly noticed Bard riding towards us on his horse quickly. "Hail Thorin! Son of Thrain. We are glad to find you alive beyond hope." Bard said. "Why do you come to the gates of the King under the mountain armed for war?" Thorin asked. "Why does the king under the mountain fence himself in? Like a robber, in his hole." Bard replied. "Perhaps it is because I am expecting to be robbed." Thorin quickly retorted. I stiffled a laugh, learning a glance from Thorin and a grin from Kili...who because I laughed was trying not to laugh as well. "My lord, we have not come to rob you. But to seek fair settlement. Will you not speak with me?" Bard asked. Thorin thought then nodded before taking his leave. We all watched as Bard dismounted and walked towards the base of the gate. "Violet! Why did you have to laugh?" Kili joked. I giggled, "I'm sorry couldn't help it. The way he said that was really funny." I laughed smiling ear to ear. Bofur smiled at me and wrapped an arm around my waist. It felt nice. He hadn't left my side, or spoken to me in any other tone except caring and loving. "I wonder what their talking about..." Fili said. "Most likely about the gold Thorin had promised to share when we where in Laketown." Balin said. I looked over the side to see Bard speaking.

Thorin POV

I waited by a small hole for the man to come and speak with me. I saw him approch. "I am listening." I whispered. "Oh behalf of the people of lake town...I ask that you honor your pledge. A share of the treasure so that they might rebuild their lives." Bard said. I shook my head, "I will not trade with any man, while an armed host lies before my door." I said. "That armed host will attack this mountain if we do not come to terms. "Your threats do not sway me." I said shaking my head. "What of your Conscience, does it not say that our cause is just?" He said. He leaned into the hole and looked at me. "My people, offered you help, and in return you only brought apon them ruin and death." He said. "When did the men of Laketown come to our aid but with the promise of rich reward?" I snapped. "A bargain was struck!" He yelled. "A bargain? What choice did we have but to barge our birthright for blankets and food!" I yelled back. "To ransom our future in exchange for our freedom." I said. "You call that a fair trade?" I whispered, cocking my head waiting for his answer though got none. "Tell me, Bard the dragon slayer," at these words he looked at me. "Why should I honor such terms?" I asked. "Because you gave us your word..." He replied. "Does that mean nothing?" He asked. I looked at him and moved out of sight, pressing my back against the wall. I looked up to see my company looking back at me. I saw Violet standing in the front, looking straight into my eyes. I sighed, keeping eye contact with her, "be gone! AND LET THE ARROWS FLY!" I yelled. I watched her flinch at my voice and cover her ears. 'Why did she do that... I wasn't that loud?' I thought. I heard Bard strike the wall before storming off. We all went back up to the top of the gate and watched Bard ride away. "What are you doing?!" Bilbo asked. "You cannot go to war." Bilbo said to me. "This does not concern you." I replied not looking at him. "Excuse me but just in case you haven't noticed there is an army of elves out there!" Bilbo said. "And not to mention several hundred angry fisherman..." Violet said quietly keeping her gaze to the ground. "Yes, w-we are in fact out numbered." Bilbo said. I looked at the halfling and grinned. "Not for much longer," I said. He began to speak but stopped. "What does that mean?" He asked. "It means Master Baggins," I said walking up to him, looking down at him. "You should never underestimate dwarves." I said before walking away. "We have reclaimed Erebor," I said. I looked at Violet and the rest of my company. "Now...we defend it." I said before walking down the stairs back to the lower levels.
