Thorin POV
I watched Violet run away to her room and shook my head. "Something's wrong with her." I said to myself before an elven man came up to me. "If you don't mind we would like to show you where you will be sleeping tonight?" He said. I gave him an odd look then followed. He led me to a hall with lots of double doors. "Is it that one?" I asked pointing to one of the doors. "No, Miss. Violet is staying in there. You will be in the one next to her." He said opening the next pair of double doors. I nodded, slightly glad that I could be so close to Violet, considering what happened when she had a nightmare two days ago. I thanked the man and shut the door. The room was nice, I must admit. I took off my coat and set it on a chair along with my belt and took off my boots. I looked around the room and found a bathroom, "well...since it's here." I muttered before taking off the rest of my clothes. I quickly bathed, I must admit it felt amazing, especially to be clean again. I washed my hair and rinsed it before scrubbing my body. I rinsed all the soap off and got out, wrapping a towel around my waist. I grabbed a clean pair of boxers out of my bag and out them on, not bothering to wear anything else. I walked over to the bed and pulled back the blankets, as I got in I looked at the wall that had Violet behind it. I sighed and laid down, tossing my arm above my head and stretching my body. I starred at the ceiling and could hear the faint loud laughing from my company. I grinned at how much they are probably annoying the elves right now. I sighed and closed my eyes and quickly fell asleep.
I woke up to the sound of violent crying and slight screaming. I quickly jumped out of my bed knowing who it was. I ran out of my room and banged on Violets door. I could hear her crying inside. "Violet! Open the door!" I said banging on the door again. I got no reply. I sighed and backed up, I knew all the elves where in a completely other section of Rivendell so they wouldn't hear. I ran and rammed the door as hard as possibly breaking the door open. I looked and saw Violet sitting up in the corner of her bed with her knees tucked to her chest, shaking and crying. "Violet!" I said worried as I ran over to her. She looked at me in horror and went to back away but I knew she would do that so I quickly hugged her tightly. "I'm not going to hurt you, I swear." I said softly. I felt her body tense and shivering in my arms. "Calm down Violet." I said trying to stay as solid as possible so she couldn't push me away. I felt her hand on my arm and her head rest on my chest. Her body stopped shaking and it wasn't tense anymore. I slowly loosened my arms and looked at her. Her cheeks where red and her eyes where puffy, her green eyes where more vibrant than ever. She wasn't looking at me. "Violet, what's wrong? I might be a little scary but I promise I mean absolutely no harm to you. I'm just worried..." I asked. She looked up at me and it watched as her eyes started to fill with tears again. I was shocked when she jumped up and wrapped her arms around my neck and began crying again. "Shhh, your okay." I said as I petted the back of her hair and held onto her tightly. She was shaking and hyperventilating. I felt her arm tighten and she buried her face into my neck. I didn't say a word only scooped under her legs and lifted her up, considering she was hanging on me in the first place because of our height difference. I sat down on her bed and set her in my lap. She stayed still her breathing was jumpy. I rubbed her back until she sat up and wiped her nose with her sleeve. "I see you got your sweater back." I said. She shook her head, "t-this ones d-different." she choked out. I felt my heart ache seeing her like this. Her hair was a mess and she looked like a wreck. "What happened?" I asked. She looked at me but said nothing. "Was it another nightmare?" I asked. She bit her sleeve and nodded. "Violet what are these nightmares about?" I asked. She shook her head. "Violet. Tell me, I'm not going to think any less of you if that's what you think." I said. She looked down at her lap. "My dad..." She said quietly. My eyes widened, "your dad?" I asked. She nodded, "what is your dad doing?" I asked. I watched her face become pained and tears streak down her cheeks. She shook her head. "Well....can I guess and you just say yes or no?" I asked. She nodded, at least she was willing to give me the chance to find out. "Is he hurting you?" She nodded, "is that all." I asked. She shrugged, I mentally screamed and took a deep breath before speaking again. "Are there different ways he's hurting you?" I asked. She nodded, "more than two?" I asked. She nodded again then held up her fingers showing three. "Is he beating you?" I asked. She put up one finger, "is...he...mentally abusing you?" I asked. She held up another. I stopped and tried to think of what could possibly be another way he could be hurting her. "Is there any way you could give me a hint as to what the third is?" I asked. She looked at me then suddenly got really tense and uneasy. I soon remembered how Bilbo said she doesn't like it when men touch her. 'that must link to it....' I thought. It took me a moment before my eyes widened in shock and anger realizing what it was. "Does...does he touch you?" As soon as I said that she burst into tears and nodded. I couldn't help but feel rage brew all through my body. I held her tightly, "Violet, has he done those thinks in real life?" I asked. She nodded...I was hoping she wouldn't. I pulled her off of me and looked into her puffy green eyes. "I swear, I will make sure he never touches you again." I said. She looked at me with confusion and hope. "W-what?" She choked out. "I said, I'm going to make sure he never touches you again." I said in a low tone. For the first time since I met her I saw her smile, not fully, but enough to be considered a smile. I pushed some hair out of her face and grinned at her. I lifted her up and set her back down on her bed before standing. "Come get me if you need anything, okay? I'm in the room next door." I said. She nodded and stayed on the bed as I left.
I stepped back into my room and shut the door. I couldn't hold it in any longer, I turned and swung my fist into the wall. 'How could any father do that to their child?!' I screamed in my head. I took a deep breath and sat down on my bed and ran a hand through my hair. I went to lay back down only a soft knock on the door stopped me. I stood back up and opened the door. Violet was standing there biting her sleeve. "Do you need something?" I asked gently. "C-...can I sleep with you?" She asked, straining to make it audible. I felt my heart pound as I opened the door wider. "Of course." I said. She walked in saying a quiet thank you and didn't hesitate to get in the bed and curl into a ball. "Goodnight," she said in a kind tone. I got in on the other side, I didn't say anything, I laid on my back. I closed my eyes then felt a Violet moving around then I felt her curl up against my side, hugging my arm. I looked down at her and smiled softly. I pulled my arm out of her grasp and moves closer, laying my arm around her onto her arm. Her head settled on my chest and she didn't move. I wondered if she was still awake until I heard a small amount of light snoring. I looked at her, I couldn't help my heart from feeling a strong love towards this girl. I looked back to the ceiling and closed my eyes. "Goodnight Violet." I said as I rubbed small circles on her arm with my thumb.
