Chapter 6

It was dark like Finn wanted, however the plan we were supposed to follow, changed rather quickly.

"What are you doing?" I whisper as he picks up a torch. "This isn't part of your plan!"

"I'm changing the plan," Finn informs as he approaches a building and peers in the window. "This is their food," he states before throwing the torch inside.

Hurrying around to avoid being seen, we watch numerous grounders toss water over the fire in an attempt of taming the beast.

"Distraction..." John smirks. "Not bad."

"Let's go," Finn says as we continue to sneak around to stay out of sight.

Our presence remains a secret until a grounder starts shouting after spotting one of us. Darting towards him, John hits him over the head, and the grounder falls to the ground.

"We need to run!" John tells us.

"We can't," Finn says, grabbing the grounder. "They'll kill our people."

"They'll kill us!" John shouts back at him.

Ignoring him, Finn begins to walk towards the grounders whilst holding his one prisoner, firing shots into the air.

"Who's in charge here?" Finn shouts, demanding to know who runs the village.

I watch people cry and others scream, and only then do I see how vulnerable this people really are.

"I'll ask again," Finn says, shoving the grounder to his knees. "Who's in charge?"

One of the men within the crowd steps out to face him. "Our leader isn't here. You can deal with me."

"Nobody has to get hurt, we just want our people back."

"We don't have your people," he says, shaking his head.

He seems sincere and I believe him straight away. Although, Finn doesn't seem too convinced.

"Then you won't mind if we look around," he says, pushing the grounder to the mud and raising his gun at the others.

I had a bad feeling about what was going to happen next, and it no matter what, I couldn't shake it.

Since the time we arrived till now, Finn has been searching for evidence that these people were guilty of hiding away our people. And so far, he's come up with nothing.

Both John and I watch over the group of grounders that we enclosed in a small area, waiting for Finn to emerge from the buildings with some news.

"I told you," the leader says. "We don't have your people."

"Stop talking," John orders, just as Finn rushes around before stopping and staring at something.

"Find something?" I ask. "Finn! Finn, answer me! Are you alright?"

A kid is about to get up, but he's quickly pulled back down by the leader.

If he's not careful, he may die.

Sprinting over, Finn throws a jacket in front of the leader. "What have you done with them?"

Finn raises his gun at the leader.

"Hey, Finn!" John says, putting a hand out.

"Their clothes are here! They were here!" Finn yells. "You killed them."

"Hey, Finn, lets just talk about this, okay?" I beg. "We can figure something out."

"What's there to figure out, Quinn?" Finn spits, looking at me whilst continuing to point his gun at the grounders. "Their clothes are here! They were all here! Your daughter was probably here, too! They could've killed her!"
